I feel unable to make comments on Orton(I am a big fan) due to my school. You can be sure that I have never called into Boers and Bernstein comparing him to Johnny Unitas.

What I do find interesting is the fact that they are planning on putting in some shotgun plays this year, which they refused to do in Kyle Orton's rookie season. Kyle Orton is at his best out of the shotgun(and it should help Rex since he is slower and less mobile than Orton). I wonder if this is a case where they are preparing the team just in case Rex fails.

I'm a big Orton fan, but if he never sees the field, that means that Rex is doing well. That would be fine with me because I want the Bears to win the Super Bowl. Now if Rex is erratic as last year, then I'm sure Nas and me will have some epic arguments.

All the Bears 'experts' have said he came to camp about 10-15 lbs less than last year. So the beard plus a few six packs are gone.

If he does the same thing this year, I think he'll be benched and on his way out of Chicago. You have to have some degree of consistency in the NFL. It's not his physical skills, but his decision making. I don't know if that will ever be fixed. I think Rex thinks he is a gunslinger who is playing Madden 08 and can just hit the X button. His receivers aren't good enough for that and neither is he. Let's hope we have a quality starter in Rex, and a quality backup in Orton.

You won't hear me talking about knowing if Griese is good or not. He isn't this training camp and may not have been last year. I just wish we had known last year so we could have cut him and found someone else as a veteran backup/third option.

You can't bench any QB after week 13. He would only have 2 bad games under his belt at that point. I would have given Griese a shot last year during the St. Louis game, but I understand why Lovie didn't. After that it was all Grossman.

If found it crazy that people were calling for Grossman to be benched the last game of the season, or for the first round of the playoffs. You have to give any starting QB at least 2 games to get his rhythm(including the first two regular season games).

So to answer your question, no. If he has a good first 5 or 6 games, and then a bunch of bad ones, then yes you do. This is magnified if Orton does look to be a capable backup, which he wasn't last year. If the reports are true, I would like to see Orton has in his arsenal now, if Rex struggles. I believe Kyle Orton will be a starter in the NFL one day, but if it's not this season so be it.

Please show some patience with Rex. As long as he shows more consistentcy, which I think we will see, he will develop into a very good NFL QB. Last year was his first year as the starting QB - there aren't QB's who step in, and just dominate - there are growth pains, and sometimes players never get beyond them.

In Rex's case, I think he can, and will get beyond them, provided he stays healthy. The Bears have added all kinds of speed (Hester, Olson, a healthy Bradley) to Berrian's down the field ability, and that will only help to allow him to make big plays.

I'm going with 27 TD, 19 INT in Year 2 of the Rexperience. He's going to make mistakes still, but I don't exepect as many valley's. He's got better offensive players around him, and a good offensive line.

With that defense as loaded as it is, if the Bears score 20 points a game, and that's not much, they are going to win a minimum of 10 games, and probably more if the offense does become more consistent.

Bradley could be a steal this season, entering his 3rd year, and hopefully healthy after the ankle injuries last season. I also have similar hopes for him, especially with Muhammed getting up there in age. Bradley has the speed, and he's been productive when he's been on the field, so it's just a matter of getting past these injuries now. Big year upcoming for him.

I think this defense is set for another great season. They are absolutely loaded with talent everywhere.

If the speed on the offensive side of the ball stays on the field, this offense is going to break out (Bears did aveerage 28 per game, but some of that came from defensive scores, and Hester - not to discredit the offense though because I see them being a lot more consistent from game to game).

Rex on the Bears reminds me of Plummer to the Broncos when it happened. If you have a very good defense and smashmouth running game, it makes no sense to get a gunslinger QB, which is what rex is. This inherently makes him who he is. I dont see Rex changing because historically gunslingers are who they are. If they could get a decent game manager at QB who isnt ancient, i think that would be the best direction. I dont know if Orton is or isnt that QB, but I'm pretty sure Rex never will be. I think he will always be the guy that will win you games or lose you games, and you already have a defense capable of winning games, so you dont necessarily need a qb to win you games, just a qb to not lose you games.

Think the 2000 Ravens would have won it all with Rex as their QB instead of Dilfer. I'm not saying they wouldnt have, but i think its an interesting question
