You seem to underestimate the reach and impact social media and public outcry has on sponsorship deals. It will never be anything you nor I have to deal with, but if enough idiots start boycotting products that sponsor a "cheater", that could be a huge financial impact.

NFL teams/players/coaches have sponsorship deals too. My question still stands - the Pat's coach accused the Jets of cheating this week. Is Belichek open to a lawsuit because of that? It's still sports (shut up douchebag), there are no legal grounds to sue somebody because a commentator, opponent, etc accuses them of "cheating". If there was, it would have happened before. The league/sanctioning body controls that stuff. If the PGA thought his report card grade ( ) was a big deal, they could step in and tell Golf.com or the GC to have Chamblee reprimanded. There are many ways for leagues to do that.

You overestimate Brandel Chamblee's reach and impact. Nobody should care what his opinion is.

The best defense that Tiger's lawers would have is to tell their client to obey all of the rules of golf so this isn't an issue in the future.
