What kind of league do you bowl in? Competitive/casual? Your skill level?

If you throw a moderate hook, I suggest looking into the Storm products. The Hy Road Pearl is a good option for a middle of the road ball that will last you some time.

If you want to buy online, on bowlingball.com, I suggest the Storm Fire Road...similar to the Hy Road Pearl, but recently discontinued. Very good ball, and it's a great deal. One of my buddies on my Tuesday league and my wife both throw that one, and really like it.

Casual league. But, I want to get pretty good because I'm stupid competitive.

I'm using a Tropical Breeze currently that my Pro Shop guy set me up with. I was looking at the Reign of Power which seemed like it might be what I was looking for. I watched the promotional video and the guy got a strike every single time. Like 50 throws in a row. So, it must be pretty good.

See bowling thread

The worst people in bowling leagues:

-The guy who is never ready when it is his turn.

-The guy who stands still for fifteen seconds before he starts his approach. It's worse if he is not a very good bowler.

-The guy who kicks the ball return, and/or curses at the top of his lungs, when he leaves a split, or misses a spare. Again, it's even worse if the guy isn't a good bowler.

-The guy who walks down to the lanes with his street shoes, during rain or snow.

-The guy who complains about leaving splits, or that his ball isn't taking out the pins in the back row, when he throws a flat, spinning ball.

Yep. Don't even come near the scorer's table in those wet fucking shoes. Take them off in back on the carpet.

I've read the last 3 or 4 pages and I swear I am reading a foreign language. I hope I will be able to remember some of the tips in this thread the next time I bowl.

I actually know a little Polish. I used to work at Manufacturers Bank on Division and Ashland and was taught quite a bit.

I looked it up and translated it:

Roughly says "bowlers are more sensitive and easily distracted than golfers".

Crap, if I could swap my golf scores and my bowling totals, I could go pro in both...

Shit, if I could swap my SAT's with my Triglyceride numbers, I'd have been a two-time Heismann winner.

10 strikes by Boyd? I'm impressed, seriously. I always was quite aware of somebody ready to take off next to me. I never had any issues but I'm not in the same league with serious bowlers.

I just figured everyone gave courtesy. Might be a generational thing...

With Incognito removed from the team at this point, I wonder why Martin doesn't feel he should return? I know that reports indicate that Incognito wasn't the only one harassing him, maybe that's it. Maybe he doesn't feel he can ever play for the Dolphins again. But I have to believe that violating the sanctity of the locker room and then going AWOL as he has, will not help him get another job in the NFL. He has said that he wants to continue playing Football, but I wonder if he will get the chance?

I was at corporate outing in st Louis when dick Weber died. We stayed in the bar as a league was firing up. Two strange things. First they fire up the national anthem on league night and then they observed a moment of silence for dick. That city reallykknows how to cram heads in asses.

If the guy can't return to the team at this point, he's probably not sturdy enough timber to make it in the NFL. Athletes in locker rooms are going to be crass and not always sensitive to all those around them. They test each other to make sure who belongs and who might be a weak link. It's looking like Martin might be one of those.

You wouldn't have lasted an 8 hour shift in a place like Cabrini, Horner or Ickes.

He was sturdy enough timber (who the fuck says that?) to be starting in the NFL already, he "made it."

I heard Mongo talking about this on the radio this morning and he said that Martin was apparently disliked and not respected by everyone on the dolphins O-Line. The final straw was on his last day when he went to sit down for lunch in the cafeteria with the rest of the offensive linemen, they all got up and moved to a different table. He left the team at the end of that day.

As Mongo said, Incognito was definitely wrong in doing some of the things he did. But there is plenty of blame that falls on Martin for leaving his team and exposing what he did. It left the team without 2 of it's starting linemen and that hurts the whole team. He also mentioned how teammates need to test each other from time to time to see how mentally and physically strong the guys are next to them. They need to know they will not crack under pressure and that he felt Martin did just that in this case. It was an interesting take on it. This was at about 11:20-11:30 this morning.

Stupid, as usual. I'll let you decide if I'm talking about you or Mongo.

The Dolphins players are in damage control mode. This is going to get really bad for them.

Well, if Mongo says so, then it must be true.
