Also,Urlacher backs McCown:

Tribune report
9:15 a.m. CST, December 11, 2013

Maybe Jay Cutler shouldn't have neglected to text Brian Urlacher when the Bears parted ways with their longtime star linebacker.

Urlacher, now an analyst for Fox Sports 1, was asked Tuesday on "Fox Sports Daily" whether Cutler should regain his role as Bears starting quarterback over Josh McCown when doctors clear him to play.

"I think Jay might be healthy right now," said Urlacher, who earlier this year noted that Cutler didn't contact him after his departure from the Bears. "If you watch him move around, and some of the film they have of him earlier this week in a pregame, he might be healthy right now."

As for who should be behind center for the Bears, Urlacher came down in McCown's corner.

"It's going to be awfully hard to take Josh out now the way he's playing," Urlacher said. "If you look at the numbers since he came in -- 13 touchdowns, one pick, they're 3-2 -- the yards are there, the wins are there, he's making great decisions with the football, and I know he's got great players around him.

Asked again if McCown should be the starting quarterback, Urlacher said, "In my opinion, he should be the guy, he should be the starting quarterback for the Bears. Even if Jay Cutler's healthy. You can't take a guy who's this hot out of the football game. If I was on that team, I would have a hard time with them taking him out. ... He's making all the right decisions and the football's going where it's supposed to go in that offense.

I was listening to Bernsie try to break this down the other day. It kills him that the meatballs have won. Chicago's favorite athlete (the backup QB) is actually much better than their beloved Cutler. He did say that basically the Bears have to do what is right for the team and should listen to what Cutler wants before dismissing him. I have said that, too. If Cutler is asking too much then release him.

Far be it for me to side with Urlacher but maybe he disliked Cutler for the reason a lot of people do, he doesn't think he's that good and is over hyped. At least Urlacher was as good as advertised for most of his career and could back up the hype with his play.

Urlacher talking a big game now for a guy who didn't want to be asked any questions at all when he was hurt. Sometimes, even when he was healthy (go to FoxSports.com). He should STFU and the media should stop asking him questions about the Bears. He was one of the best LBs in the league for 90% of the time he was in a Bears uniform, but I couldn't care less what he thinks about the team right now.

To be fair, Urlacher is an NFL analyst for Fox. So, he kinda has to give his opinion

Agreed.

And the sad part is, the Bears would be better off with him playing Mlb right now. But he was Lovie guy and Emery really had no choice but to let him walk.

The Bears current three backers are frightfully bad.
