cuz once again, mccown was playing the best football of his life and it was only keeping pace with cutler playing so-so football.
Are you crazy? Once again, Jay Cutler has NEVER played that well in his career. Not in Chicago. Not in Denver.
can you vague that up a little bit? all of that detail is overloading my brain.... i can't comprehend it.
once again, instead of stats or tangible evidence we just get a "nuh uh....you must be crazy! i'm right"
what was so godlike about josh's 6 game run, which again off the top of my head it was 6+ games of 1809yds 13TD 1INT.... mccown was putting up 250-350yds with ~2TD every week, which is an ~18-22pt fantasy quarterback.... he averaged 18.2 fantasy points per week, whereas cutler's 1908yds of 13TD/8INT was good for 18.7 fantasy points per week.
so in terms of yards/scores/deductions-for-turnovers even with mccown's 5TD game (where, btw, that rushing TD was worth 2 more points than the passing one) they still had the same goddamn production. yes cutler threw more INTs, but evidently mccown had more fumbles and/or he just didn't do enough positive offensive things to get out ahead of cutler, even with his big 39.58pt game against the cowboys.
if you were saying that 6 game run was, say, peyton manning's first 6 games of this year where he jumped out to like 2000yds and 20TD, then you've got a point. but the basis of this magical 6 game run everyone keeps talking about, you know the 3-3 run where mccown lost to the rams and the vikings, was merely that mccown only threw 1 INT.
so basically you're saying that you want a game manager quarterback.... do you have a poster of trent dilfer in a baltimore ravens uniform on your wall? you don't want to have a bears quarterback that can go out and win you a game, you basically want a bears quarterback who does the most to prevent you from losing a game. you've said it yourself, just like others have, as the 13TD/1INT stats are being trumped as the be-all/end-all, even tho jay threw for more yards and just as many touchdowns when you include a game where he didn't even have a healthy functioning vagina.
dude, mccown did well for himself... he came out here and managed games well enough via getting the ball to two #1 WRs in large part because of an offensive line that kept him upright and not repeatedly running for his life. i'm grateful for that.... but mccown couldn't go out and win you games on his own.... the bears didn't win all those games because josh mccown was in there, they won because the offense as a whole got rolling and mccown did a good job of not shitting the bed.
and now that cutler's back, it's being made obvious that not shitting the bed = the most important thing a quarterback can do. you guys don't wanna take any risks to have a quarterback who can go out and win you games, if not playoff games, if not a superbowl.... you just wanna have some guy in there who will throw to the checkdown 75% of the time and only if they're wide open because OMFG HE DOESN'T GET INTS.....whatever. FTFY..... i'll roll the dice and take the downside to have a physically gifted quarterback who can go out there and win you a game when it's raining large black men in his shrinkydink pocket. i'll take the guy who can run for his life and commit to a scramble, but then look up and see martellus bennett wide open in the middle of the field with 2 defenders closing in on him and gun it to him right there on the spot while running at full speed. i'll take the QB who can still develop into a top-6 NFL QB if he finally gets a chance to have more than 1-2 years in a given system.....
and if that means i'm gonna get 13/8 as opposed to 13/1 so be it....especially when cutler had a better record than mccown (now 5-3.... altho one of those losses is the detroit loss where he wasn't at full strength) cuz in the end it's all about winning ballgames. and cutler's gotta be solidly over .500 as a bears QB... he started off 7-9 but then led them to 11-5/NFC-champ-game, and then was 7-3 the next season, and then 10-5 last year.... and this year he's 5-3?
40-25.... cutler's led the bears to a 40-25 record when he's in there, and we wanna literally get rid of him and let him walk in FA so we can bring in a .500 quarterback only because he doesn't throw INTs.
again, GROW A SET. give me a quarterback who has the capability to go out and WIN games as opposed to the guy who's more likely to not be the reason that you lose a game.... cuz if all of these INTs matter so much, how the fuck does jay have a 40-25ish record as a bears QB? you've got a 40-25 QB and you're pining for a .500 QB.
at least in your case there's an excuse as you're mister purdue and since your team no longer has a purdue QB you've wanted cutler to fail horribly since day one because when it comes to brick it's all about one thing: being right. fuck everything else.
sorry dude, you're wrong and biased. and again i stupidly took the bait and had to babble but whatever..... someday down the road you'll be able to look up these threads and see that i was ahead of my time and that, indeed, i was always right about this. when the actual team agrees with me you might wanna admit that i'm on to something, no?
