Here's another weird thing about the NFL. It just so happen that this year was the Bears turn in the schedule rotation to play the AFC North. Well, the Bears went 4-0 against that division. Not a bad division, but who's to say that we'd to as well against another AFC division. Also, the Bears just happen to get the two best teams in that division at home (Bengals and Ravens) and the two bad teams in that division on the road (Steelers and Browns). Say that's reveresed, we could be 2-2. Cuz playing the Ravens and Bengals at their place is different and the Bears barely beat both of those teams at Soldier Field.

The NFL blessed the Bears with the NFC East, too.

Yep.

Not to mention injuries. I think the Packers would have this division clinched right now had it not been for Rodgers injury.

Yep.

Glad we arent playing The Ravens, because those Harbaugh boys sure know how to coach. These guys have teams that no matter how they start, they improve and hit damn hard all year. They just get better each week. Tough to create that pace in the NF of L

I guess they learned some never quit stuff from their dad? I wondered why Ditka couldn't make it work with Jim. Didn't he have some dream season with Ted Marchibroda after he left?

Now, because the Bears were 3rd in the division last year they got the 3rd place NFC teams of the non division rotation (which was thhe NFC East this year). So it was the Saints and the Rams. Lost both those games. Rams suck but the Saints aren't the 3rd place team they were last year.

Again, every team has their story. Lions have lost 4 games or so with leads in the 4th quarter. So the Bears can't bitch about their tough losses. Packers have a lot to cry about as well.

Just pointing out how weird this NFL is.

And no need for the Bears to apologize if they get in. They were 10-6 last year and weren't allowed in. Screw Detroit and Green Bay.

they would've been worse with a heavier schedule. any bears fan who doesn't recognize they get a beneficial schedule nearly every year needs to pay better attention to the NFL. this has been a cream puff schedule for them and they're still fighting for a playoff spot. they have a terrible record against teams over .500 and those are the teams they'd be playing in the playoffs.

out of their 8 wins this year, 2 have come against teams with a winning record. by a combined 6 points. i wouldn't be writing off any potential opponents with that stat.

They get a beneficial schedule every year? You do realize, as we've pointed out, that they rotate AFC and NFC divisions every year for every team. Only 2 games are based on record (it was the Saints and Rams for the Bears this year - one tough team, one easy team). You really thought the NFL tries to give the Bears an easy schedule?

By the way, before the year started, it was one of the toughest schedules based on last year's records. Which you can never go by. Just saying.

The Rams are going to have a bad record and will be one of the easier teams on peoples schedules next year. I wouldnt want to play them. the packers could be a 3rd place team and be slotted as a lessor team next year, which would be inaccurate with Rogers back. ATL with Jones back and some new RB's that dont get hurt every play. Imagine having all of them on your schedule because you are supposed to be playing the weaker teams?

That's just it. The Bears got the Saints this year cuz of a 3rd place record. The Packes got the Falcons this year cuz of a 1st place record. How did that work out as far as strength of schedule based on record?

You know how this goes Zack. The Bears are almost always mediocre, but if you talk to their fans it's always either "Fire everyone!" or "Super Bowl!".

i know. it never gets...less annoying.

i don't think the NFL tries to do anything except stretch their goddamn product thinner and thinner. i'm saying that the bears in the past 5 or 6 years have been extremely fortunate in their schedules, regardless of when they were made...

Id be very surprised if the Bears beat the Panthers in Carolina

I dont think they can beat any team that is solid on both sides of the ball. (Notwithstanding the Bengals win.)

Completely agree. I was drunk and talking shit. My post actually describes me too. I made a $100 bet on the Pack after Week 1, then wrote them off like 5 different times, and now am convincing myself we can win the Super Bowl with a healthy Rodgers.

It's 2010 all over again. I already took Monday and Tuesday off after the Super Bowl so I could up to Lambeau and see the Super Bowl celebration. CAN'T WAIT.
