Almost like people arguing about Grossman in 06 when they were on their way

Just seems a bit much for an average team

You should have been around during the Phipps vs. Avelini (& then Evans) discussions.

The Vikings loss is still bothering me. That game may determine if the Bears make the playoffs or not.
Tresty will never ever do that again.

Speak for yourselves. If the Bears make the playoffs I am a believer that anything can happen. The defense may string together a few good games. Briggs will be healthy too. For whatever it's worth the run defense was a lot better when he was healthy. Bears were barely giving up 100 yards a game.

I'm with you. Look at the results from today. The NFL is an utter and total crap-shoot.

I don't claim the Bears' chances are good. They're not. But, the fact is, it's a week to week league. Once you're in the playoffs, you stand a puncher's chance of winning a superbowl. Denver and Seattle seem to have probably the best chances of winning their respective conferences; but who'd be shocked if neither made the superbowl? I sure wouldn't.

A good draft pick is already out. The chances aren't good, but this league has too much parity. It's practically a coin-flip every game. To say any team in the playoffs has no shot is to ignore reality.

Unfortunately, I don't think they can get in.

Detroit's toughest remaining game is tomorrow night at home. Bears may need to win both remaining games, plus have help.

Every game is practically a coin-flip. Every goddamn game. I won't be the least bit surprised if the Lions lose tomorrow, or in the next couple of weeks. Just look at what our next opponent manged today.

Good thoughts. And just reinforces the fact that Bears have to win this division if for no other reason than to keep the Packers and the Lions out of the playoffs. Could anyone stomach a Lion superbowl or *shudder* another Packer superbowl?

Ugh. Good point. Let's not imagine neither team stands a realistic chance of winning a superbowl. Especially with it being in New Jersey. Even if the AFC team is a huge favorite, the conditions may well make the game an even bigger crap shoot than normal.

I disagree with your conclusion. I do agree that almost every game is a crapshoot, but the real good team usually win and I believe it's a lot less of a crapshoot once you're in the playoffs.

Not to mention that to go to the SuperBowl they'll almost certainly have to beat Seattle in Seattle or SF in SF and I dont see either happening.

But again, we are in the 8-8 era, so maybe Im wrong.
