#1, let's not forget: Cutler is an Angelo guy.

#2 Early this season, I got the distinct impression that Trestman and Cutler do not work well together. I think Trestman was pleased at how McCown's play might have reigned in Jay's insolence a bit, but I don't think Coach T wants to deal with this every year, for years to come. I truly believe that he is riding Cutler out so as not to lose his own team stock like a Greg Schiano-type could.

#3 This defense needs 2 Big DTs and at least one ELITE level safety. You get those pieces, and this thing all of a sudden looks good. The cap room that will be opened up from dumping Peppers, Hester, Earl Bennett, and Cutler should allow us to make some primo moves.

Hey,I read this and liked it! Bears have a lot of dead wood to move regardless of tomorrow.

Tell me more about this offensive genius...

The Special Teams and Defense are terrible, he needs his share of the blame on that. People were quick to bash Lovie for having shit offense. Why does Trestman get a pass?

Mel Tucker has just overseen two of the worst defenses of all time in back to back seasons. Why does he get a third chance again?

While the offensive line is better, it's still below average. That said, you are right about the 2 WR's, TE and RB. He had lots of good weapons. The defense was okay early in the season when everyone was healthy and getting turnovers. But when the injuries took away a few starters (Briggs and Tillman particularly) and the turnovers stopped coming regularly, the defensive shortcomings became glaring. If Tucker couldn't operate Lovie's defense effectively, he should have said so, rather than taking the DC job under the condition that he operate in that defense. He should be replaced at season's end, which will probably be tomorrow.

Cutler has 17 TD's and 11 Int's. That is a shit ratio. He will have failed to secure the division with 2 chances to do it. He will have established a 1-8 record VS their top rival and most importantly, chief competitor in their division. He has to go. With 9 Td's and 16 Int's VS Green Bay and a 61.5 overall QB rating which resulted in the 1-7 record he has established VS Green Bay. If his history VS the Packers repeats itself (history so often does) I am going to be VERY interested to see if the Bears finally come to their senses and realize he's NOT a franchise QB and need to go in another direction.

This was the year for Cutler to show us why he deserves a big boy contract. So far he has a C, with a lot of sick days. Not good enough for that kind of a contract. However, this is his chance at extra credit, to bring his grade up to an A. A win tomorrow and a decent playoff run, would be enough to earn him that big boy contract.

I disagree. I don't care if he throws for 5 TDs and 500 yards. Any performance tomorrow, no matter how grand, doesn't just blot out four years of data. There should be nothing he can do tomorrow to change our appraisals of him in terms of signing him to a new contract. Let's not Matt Flynn ourselves into signing him to a large deal just because of a game or two of spectacular performances.

Will take more then a good performance tomorrow.

After last year, Jeffery was still an intriguing prospect though everyone was still unsure as to what he can bring to the table. This year, Jeffery made a name for himself running plays designed by the new staff. His emergence this year cannot be decoupled from Trestman's oversight, and the same thing can be said about the previously unheralded Bennett.
