So bigfan-- Mr Baseball, Mr Southside-- you think the Sox need to play some games to show their rebuild work, what does that say about the Cubs current rebuild which is coming off its third consecutive 90 loss season?
Yes, the Cubs had a better record in 2013. They won a whopping 3 more games than the White Sox. Time to celebrate!
yes, I think the Sox need to be over .500 to show that they have done something worth while.
The point of saying the cubs had a better record is that if the Cubs are so bad, so terrible, intentionally tanking, not sure what that said about the sox who had a over $100Mill payroll and tried to win? The best I hear is that "They tried" so it makes it a better effort? Did the Sox get a "Certificate of Participation " for this Effort?
I will tear into the cubs worse than any Sox fan can imagine if the plan they have does not come together, but I have not declared it a success or a failure yet.
What RPB and other have pointed out is that Hahn, who has done a good job is being given the benefit of doubt that everyone he acquired is going to work out. Adam Eaton is going to be a great on base lead off guy (How anyone could be better than Jordan danks, I am not sure)....but they need to play before the Hahn plan is given credit.
About 5 years ago the Reds had 5 of the top 25 prospects in baseball. Not that they have dominated but they have been very good. Add some better free agents and that could have been a World Series teams.
The cubs have 5 top 30 prospects as well as 6 of the top 30 international prospects and a couple of guys at the ML level. But everyone already knew all that
