and Horford is basically out for the year

don't get me wrong, the East would still be bad if 100% healthy but clearly they have been hit pretty hard with injuries to major stars

Hell no.

This team has been hamstrung by Paxson and Forman and their love of "our nucleus".

Also, DRose and his bobos also ruined this team.

Things I sometimes wonder about... Is D Rose our karma payback for Portland taking Bowie before MJ?

GarPax may have to start attacking the Bulls players. Thibs is STILL winning. He may try to stick it to the front office by making the playoffs even though it may hurt the team long term.

The East is so bad though. I'm not even sure they could miss the playoffs even if they tried to.

The front office wants them to lose. They should tell Boozer to get back immediately. He's the guy that will do everything he can to make sure they lose.

The tank seems to be more than half full because the Bulls are 3-0 without Deng. The team is definitely rounding into form. The next few weeks are full of mostly NBA bad teams. They could potentially be the 3 seed with a good record over this next stretch.

man i wanted to make my own thread called "SHUT THE FUCK UP THIBODEAU" but man i just saw his fat smarmy ass in the postgame after their 5th straight win...

Tom Thibodeau wrote:
we're gonna keep fighting clawing scratching that's what we gotta do

now granted he's a professional coach and whatnot so i get that he's gotta give you platitudes.... but still. WHAT exactly are you fighting/clawing/scratching?!?! WHAT DO YOU GOTTA DO?!!?! triumphantly make the playoffs (right now they're the #5 seed.... fucking shit) and then get trounced in the first round, or even worse, beat some other dumbass team that made the playoffs and then get an even worse pick so you end up with yet another taj-gibson-at-best draft pick?!!?

Taj Gibson 12.1 PT .484 of 10.0 FG .703 of 3.4 FT .000 of 0.1 3P 6.6/2.2 RB 1.03 AS 1.46 BL 0.31 ST 1.86 TO 2.57 PF 27.9 MN 35/3 GS

and think, that's pretty much the grade-A exception to ending up with a ~20/+ pick..... 12 and 6 in 27.9 mins, so going over to basketball-reference.com and looking at his per-36-mins average (which i presume is a solid indicator of what he'd be giving you as a starter) for his career he's basically 13/9 with a pretty-much-meh-for-a-big 48% FG / 66% FT.... oh yeah he gives you 2 blocks a game.

so basically, you're fighting/clawing/scratching so you can end up getting players who have a ceiling of 13/9 as a starter? well then ok maybe you wanna talk about not being a bunch of losers and having a winning environment.... well who on this team is really a young building block? jimmy butler, yeah maybe..... noah? meh. boozer's gone.... hinrich's done.... you got rid of LOLDENG.... dunleavy's a guy.... teague's in the NBDL..... is dj augustin your future? taj? is he suddenly gonna wake up and say "hey boozer's gone so now i can get 10 more minutes a game and get my 12/7 up to 15/8?!?! oh goody!!!!

so yeah basically you've got butler, taj, snell, and uhhhh..... a bunch of journeyman veteran roleplayers who are just replacement level guys, and now you're fighting/clawing/scratching to make the playoffs, miss out on getting a lottery pick in the deepest draft since 2003, and therefore not even allow yourself to have a chance to get a player who could turn this franchise around when what's left of derrick comes back?!?!

goddamn man, this season is so fucking frustrating....not that i had any high hopes with derrick around, but at least with him there there's just that small chance that lebron breaks his leg or something and you have that 1.9% chance for AMAZING to happen (this is the NBA after all) --- but instead you've got these whiny fucking Caller Bobs like d-rose and joakim noah all WHAT THE HELL WE'RE NOT GONNA LOSE OH NO NO NO WE'RE GONNA STICK IT YOU LOSERS AND SHOW YOU THAT WE'VE GOT THE HEART OF A CHAMPION....meanwhile you're going to likely set your franchise back for no less than another 2-3 years, maybe even longer if you consider the kind of player they'd have a small chance of getting, and..... [drum roll]

FOR WHAT?!?!?!?!?!

so thibodeau can eventually retire with a better career winning %? so joakim noah, who was a different kind of a pain in the ass back in the last season where their playoff push fell short, can say "YEAH WE'RE NOT LOSERS?!?!" i mean wtf are they trying to do?!!? i know they can't say anything nor can they go out there and like, you know, totally sandbag.... but why don't you bring teague back up and force him to sink or swim? have jimmy butler chuck it up no less than 20-25 times per game and try to max out his ability to score in the league? lessen boozer's minutes and get taj starter's minutes and hope that the 15/8-per-36mins he's doing this year could maybe blossom into that nice round 18/10 area where you'd basically replace boozer's production with a nicer contract?!?!

i mean it's like FOTStein told us, when the bulls got dj augustin it was just "ugh" cuz wtf he he doing on the team? trying to give you the best chance possible to win these games to get into the playoffs to outright ensure that the team gets their super/star back next year and therefore is locked in as a for-sure-no-worse-than-a-6-seed and thus the NBA draft will never help you build a legitimate contender around derrick rose?!!

i'm sorry i'm TL;DR but it's this FIRE AND PASHIN that's paining my ass....especially to hear cheeky newscasters like YAY THEY'RE WINNING and seeing thibodeau's hideous mug acting all smarmy like "YEAH FUCK YOU WE'RE WINNING" when the sad truth of it all is that this team would rather play journeyman veteran roleplayers at their highest levels to make the playoffs "because we're not losers" whereas tanking hard for 1, maybe 2 years gives you that chance to have the NBA rig you up some really nice picks and then you get a franchise/ish player or two and derrick comes back and works his way back to ~75% of his old self (or maybe flirts with the 38% shooting barrier) and then you add some FA pieces and you've got something.

otherwise if you let this dreck take you a round or two deep in the playoffs..... man, you're seriously setting your team back from CONTENDING FOR CHAMPIONSHIPS no less than 2-3 years, so you gotta ask yourself why the fuck you're out there playing basketball: is it to ultimately win a championship, or is it to ultimately not lose as many games as possible?

cuz right now this bulls team isn't playing to win anything significant....they're playing to not lose as many games as possible cuz fuck you assholes our team is good enough, our team is smart enough, and doggone it thibodeau likes us!

FUCK OFF AND STOP RUINING MY DESIRE TO WATCH THE NBA YOU DUMBASS Caller Bobs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(yeah sorry i got DA FIRE AND DA PASHIN and i'm a bit drinky outside of the drinky board and whatnot, but man.... i won't blow up and go longform on this team again. it was just something about seeing thibodeau snarling at the media talking about clawing and scratching and fighting...... i mean comeon, it's like a crippled old man clawing and scratching and fighting against lebron james mom's hummer that's about to run them over. there is no fight. anyways time to down a bunch of water and pass out so i can wake up and pray that city and/or the scousers drop points. YNWA!!!!!!!!!!!=)

Cartier Martin looks like he is a good scorer off the bench.

Scouting report on Cartier:
Pluses: Impeccable timing with a reliable set of hands. Very consistent speed. Never seems to wear down. Can provide valuable minutes.
Minuses: Seems to take a step back every October. Can be tightly wound. One hand is shorter and slower than the other.
Overall: An ideal addition to an outfit lacking an identity.

One of my legs is shorter than the other and both my feet's too long.

Whoever was going to make a joke about one of Cartier Martin's grandparents being white, shame on you!

The Bulls have been in desperate need of a couple extra guys that can put the ball in the basket. They don't have anyone on the current roster who can average 20 to 30 points. But a couple guys like Martin and Augustin can give the team a boost.

I think this season has shown that Jimmy Butler is not the answer. Deng was a great defender, but his offense was inconsistent and he never become the player that they paid him to be. The Bulls still need a two guard or small forward who can score 20 points a game.

Thibs has to continue to preach the same message he has always preached. I believe it is just who he is. Even it that weren't true he would lose the team in the future if he let up. They expect Thibs to push them and they expect him to never stop fighting. That's why they play the way they do.

The Deng-less Bulls pull out another win. Tony Snell had a pretty sweet jam in one of the overtimes.

Can there be any outcome more emblematic of how irretrievably fucked the Bulls are than a triple-overtime win over the Orlando Magic?

Fucking Thibs plays Butler 60 minutes (a franchise record) when he is only a few days removed from missing almost a month with turf toe!

This guy just doesn't see the big picture at all.

WTF?

You gotta wonder what Gar/Pax think??

Yeah, seriously I'd just negotiate the buyout right now if there are really these irreconcilable differences between Thibs and Reinsdorf/Reinsdorf's cronies. There's no point to continuing this charade.

Mike Dunleavy was the third overall pick wasn't he?

If the Bulls win more than 41 game Thibs should win CoY.

There probably isn't a big picture to worry about anymore. We don't even know if the Bulls have a star on the roster.

Agreed.

Any finish of 5th or better, which would equal what they did last year would definitely be deserving of COY.

What exactly offense were the Magic running? One pass after the cross mid court and chuck it up! Damn I could see that at any play ground :(
