Abreu has been better. But Rizzo is also really good, and I feel comfortable betting on Rizzo's history than Abreu's short history.

And I think Steve Stone is dead wrong. Abreu will never be far superior when looking at the two players as a whole.

That was the original argument. But Rizzo's superior play has shifted the goalposts to whether he's better. Hint: He is.

So Rizzo is never going to be a great hitter, but he will do better than 23 HR and 80 RBI. per Stone today.

And only from the Wisdom of Steve Stone could you know that getting some RH power behind Rizzo would help him.

Trade Rizzo for 2-3 promising young players and sign FA Kendrys Morales.

Why is it only decent starting pitching gets "flipped". As you can see by most of the Cubs losses,the only reason they are in any game is from decent to excellent starting pitching.

100 points? That means there are only 3 players in the whole league that are "far superior" to Anthony Rizzo and Jose Abreu. That seems like quite a high bar to set.
I don't think "far superior" is fair yet. Superior probably would be. I'm putting more weight into the fact that Abreu is on pace for nearly 60 home runs than you seem to be though.
Obviously, I think there will be some fall off for Rizzo.

First base is probably the least sought after position though. Its where a lot of teams put the guy who can hit but not field.
