I don't want a pitcher since they all get hurt, but I don't trust the Sox to draft a hitter either.

Should they then not draft?

Pull the classic JR move: draft a guy and then don't sign him!

BA has two kids headed for Tommy John surgery going @ 5 & 8? I'd love to hear the discussion going on in that room.

John Manuel said the Fedde injury happened after the magazine went to press. They didn't want the confusion of different lists so they kept him in the same spot. They will drop him when the top 500 list comes out.

What really matters to the Sox: who will take a nice low-ball offer?

It doesn't work that way anymore, does it? The owners protected themselves from themselves (and Scott Boras) by assigning money to each slot.

No, they assigned a total amount to spend to each team and provided some "guidelines" to each spot. You can still pick a guy #3 and pay him whatever you want as long as you don't exceed your total pool of money to sign your picks.

What happens if you use your allotted money on one guy?

You cannot sign anyone else for anything more than like $50,000, I think.

As I believe Aiken and Rodon are foshizzles gone by the time the 4th pick rolls around - how do they not grab Kolek if he is still on the board?

Kolek is an outlier. He's the biggest and hardest throwing prep pitcher in the history of the draft. He's considered a bigger risk because he has no comps so teams aren't sure what to make of him.

Yeah, and Mark Prior had perfect pitching mechanics going into the 2001 draft.

Pitchers are tough to find...so you just have to take the best available stuff and go from there.

Don't pull another Hayden Simpson.

Sox are going to add another Cuban to the mix with this draft. Somehow, I doubt he will have the same kind of connection as Abreu, Vicedo and Ramirez.

four players I like and the Sox pick third. Let's just hope $$ isn't involved in the decision making process.

IF that is the case with the Sox this year, this will be a total disaster. How often do you get to pick 3rd? Get the guy you want, pay the fucking price.

The Marlins acquired RHP Bryan Morris from the Pirates in exchange for the Marlins' Competitive Balance Round A selection in the 2014 Draft. The pick is the 39th overall selection and carries a slot value of $1,457,600.

Is Michael Conforto moving up draft boards?

I read that MLB.com projects the Cubs taking him at 4.

I am thinking Jackson or Nola for the Cubs there.
