Nas is correct in the Uniqueness of the visit.

They should have used this soccer thing as an example of just a small sample of what could be done.

I sure hope they didnt take him out to the cell. :D

Opting out gets him new paper, more years, mo money. He's staying in NYC. Cubs had a better shot at Girardi than the Bulls do at Melo. Guys don't build dream homes/lofts/what-have-you to spend the next several years couch-surfing in Chicago.

Original!

Coming from you, the above comment is steeped in irony.

I wasn't striving for originality. Rather, I was merely pointing out the amateurish nature of Paxson's appeal by referencing an earlier free-agent recruiting debacle.

Chill out, silly goose. You must have missed the wink...

I got what you were saying. I believe this "pitch" by the Bulls will be no better or worse than Houston or Dallas'.

I would hope that the Bulls could assemble a better proposal than Houston or Dallas, but I don't think it ultimately matters.

Melo is taking these visits because he wants to be seen as a star in the same vein as LeBron. Whether or not he really intends to leave New York is a separate question.

I'm just saying that nothing is really going to impress him much as far as the venue or any of the banners and shit go. Everyone will say "Look! We've got these good players. We have a plan for the future. You're great! Blah Blah Blah."

I agree that Carmelo wants to feed his ego (eggo?) with these visits. He has most likely already decided to return to New York or come to Chicago. Sorry Rockets and Mavs...

I couldn't disagree more. What the Bulls have to offer is very unique and should appeal to someone who wants to win. They even have the assets to pull off a sign and trade without gutting their roster.

Aren't they taking him to the UC to show him the progress on the new practice facility? To reinforce that he can actually live in the city rather than in the northern burbs?

Same story four years ago, maybe even better condition because Rose was healthy and they had more cash money. I like the Bulls position but it's not always a winning formula. Too bad we are not a coastal city with winters in the seventies fahrenheit.

I wish we could use basketball logic to guess where these guys might go. A lot of them don't give a shit about basketball, though. Dwight Howard wanted to play in LA to help his acting career for Gods sake.

Exactly what I think. Pedigree or tradition doesn't matter either. Even with the ring in 2005 Miami was pretty much historically irrelevant since entering the league in the 80s or 90s. The tradition of NYK and Chicago didn't make LBJ think twice about his destination.

That's just not true. Thibs was an unknown rookie coach. Taj wasn't on the roster. Rose had never played at an MVP level. Noah wasn't a Defensive Player of the Year or an All NBA selection. There was no winning culture. Paxson had just attacked Vinnie Del Negro.

It also ignores the fact that LBJ and company already had decided where they were going so the other factors really didn't matter

I think it's very likely that these recruiting visits don't matter now, either.

They're little more than a self-promotion vehicle for top NBA talent.

If Carmelo hasn't already decided where he's going to play next year, I'd be quite surprised.

We'll all know by tomorrow. I'm confident he'll want to come here to win. You all need to get on board.

how will we know by tomorrow?

Hasn't he said he would make his decision/announcement next week after all his visits?

I'll wait until Goff reports that the Melo signing is imminent before I decide anything.

When he makes that declaration, I'll know for sure Melo is staying in New York.

Are you as optimistic about other things as you are about sports? If you are, you may be the black Mary Poppins.

I tried that when I was a kid. I put a lot of effort into moving pencils via telekinesis. It didn't work. I haven't been the same since.
