I'm a huge seafood guy, and if cooked right, scallops may be my favorite.

I could eat raw oysters (or fried or a variety of other preps) by the dozens.
However -one side of family has a "delicacy" they make around holiday time that they call "scalloped oysters" and it's terrible. Completely not edible. Tastes like hot snot in a pot.

I'm not real big on the smaller ones that are used in pastas and whatnot, but give me one huge scallop that's been grilled or seared to perfection as part of a three or four piece platter and I dig it.

Very few of them in Chicago. Some of the high end restaurants get their stuff flown in directly from Hawaii, Maine, etc.

Salmon is probably my favorite amongst the "affordable" fish....i mean sure i'd rather eat sea bass or halibut but that's not really feasible most nights . and cheap fish like tilapia and catfish can definitely be tasty , but pretty much have 0 nutritional value

Peapod carries a brand of salmon called Verlasso , that is supposedly a more sustainable/organic method of fishing..it's still farm raised but it does really taste a lot better than the cheapo farm raised stuff Jewel or whoever carries, and not expensive at all

The fish place I've been going to for a while now hit on a run of wild Sockeye Salmon, so I was really excited to get some of that a few weeks ago. Didn't really do much for me though (I think I should just leave that for other people to smoke...was too dry for my liking)...I find the farm raised stuff I've been getting to be much better for the planking.

yea, sockeye is good too but 1) you have to watch the bones and 2) as you say, it can dry out a lot quicker

it's in season now though
