Not getting involved. Just posting the bill.

I really don't want to help the off track thing but isn't the senate that in the headline says rejected this bill run by emperor Reid and the Dems?

No. Reid has to vote no on it so that the bill can be brought back at a later date if he wants. Senate rules.

Ok well then.... showing our group level of knowledge on Senate rules. Reid has to vote no on cloture otherwise it can't be brought back

Cmon. Pick a different article. I paste from the first paragraph that it wasn't a rules thing but a vote:

The Senate delivered a devastating blow to President Obama’s agenda to regulate guns Wednesday by defeating a bipartisan proposal to expand background checks.

It failed by a vote of 54 to 46, with five Democrats voting against it.

From the CNN version

Quote:
The final vote was 54 in favor to 46 opposed with four Republicans joining most Democrats in supporting the compromise. With the outcome obvious, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada, cast a "no" vote to secure the ability to bring the measure up again

Mike, argue what you want about the bill but Republicans killed it. Only 4 of them voted in favor. Let's not be ridiculous.

Ok so Reid can't get it past his Senate but it is Republicans fault. Got it. Blame 4 Dems.

Are you suggesting that one should never reconsider opinions as information evolves and we become aware of more? I was asking for suggestions, certainly not saying go in and murder all the Russians. I would argue that this is responsible behavior.

That's 59 votes. Doesn't meet cloture.

I'm suggesting that there has to be pages upon pages ripping Obama for "evolving" on gay marriage. It was snark. Note the emphasis on "evolving" or just keep playing dumb

Jesus mike... I'm pretty sure advocates of the bill did blame the 5 Ds IN ADDITION TO 40 or so Republicans. If you're blaming based on party, there would clearly be much more blame for the Rs. Take the blinders off.

Wow. Just speed read that wiki page on that incident. Fascinating. Well, then.
Do you feel that this should be regarded as an accident or should a response be issued? Now, I'm feeling rather ambivalent on the issue.

They showed the footage from the USS Vincennes after they thought they downed an F-14, only to realize it was a commercial jet. It was wild.

Well, it's not an accident, that's for sure. An accident is when a telephone pole falls on you. This was serious mistake. They supposedly have audio of the separatists admitting responsibility.

After the Newtown massacre, we couldn't even get stricter background checks for gun owners, despite 90% being in favor of it. Nothing was done, other than the same old claptrap from the right about hockey sticks and hammers killing people, too. We should call school shootings terrorist attacks from now on.

Wait,if 90% favor it, why are we blaming "the right"?
Hell even the NRA endorsed background checks.

And off track we go....

Yeah. You're right. I am sorry. Chus forget it. Not here.

I can't see the U.S. doing anything to Russia directly. I haven't been following along, so if they are already helping the Ukrainian government in some way through a backdoor, perhaps that will continue.

Maybe so. It makes sense to target someone rather than shooting down some random plane.

Okay but shouldn't we hold him to the same standard as Bush? People got all up in arms when they went into protective mode with him on 9/11. Don't you think he should cancel the fund raiser appearance and at least look to be in control?

No... I don't think so. I don't believe that the President of the Unites States should have any planning interrupted by any ass with a plane or bomb or whatever.
In other words, POTUS shouldn't have to answer to any jerk with a missile. He's the fucking POTUS.
Never forget to remember it's the office we're talking about in situations like this, not the man.
