And so would you if I told you Sale would never play on one. Wouldnt you?
I want them to Win a World Series. Maybe its different after your team wins one (couldnt tell ya!)
No. I don't really expect Sale to pitch in a World Series for the White Sox. They've been in one in my lifetime. I think it's pretty unrealistic to expect them to suddenly win pennants in bunches, no matter how much of a Really Smart Guy Rick Hahn might be.
Were getting into a philosophical discussion now, but do you want the White Sox to win the World Series?
If I told you they wont win one in the next 15 years for sure would that bother you?
I mean, isnt it possible to want something that's not guaranteed?
I would think a guy how loves horseracing would understand this kind of thing
I don't expect the Sox to win a World Series in the next 15 years. Sure, I'll be happy if they do. But before they won in 2005 I almost didn't believe they could at all. I'm not going to be surprised or disappointed if they don't win another one in my lifetime. I don't think winning a World Series is a reasonable expectation for anyone but a Yankees fan, or maybe a Cardinals fan. Those teams have done it again and again. If you look at everyone else, five or six in the team's history- spread out over 100 years- isn't bad.
It's really telling that you listed four really great players and none of them has won a World Series. I'm sure at least a couple of them will. Maybe all of them. But they might do it at the end of a career when they aren't really contributing. Like a 35 year old Longoria coming off consecutive .250 years getting traded to the Yankees where he hits .310 over 400 at-bats and helps the Yankess to yet another title.
