I mean look at the universe of Chicago sports-talkers. Brutal! Mannelly just being a guy who doesn't offend the sensibilities puts him ahead of most.

He showed some basebal acumen RE: Cubs prospects.

He's already better than Waddle.

That's a big reason why I was alright with the move. Just being competent gets you a lot of points in my book. That's pathetic, of course, but the fact is that many talkers in this city can't speak for shit. It's a big part of why I can't stand Mully, for example.

The two-legged animal debate was actually pretty funny.

If they get into a rhythm of making fun of the stuff Spiegel says like that, it could be pretty good. I just don't have a lot of confidence that Spiegel would allow himself to be the object of humor on an ongoing basis.

Mannelly is going to have to assert his dominance in short order. Put his dick on the table. No way Speigs wins that competition.

Then he is already miles ahead of the part timers, like Drinky, Shep, and Herb.

Mitch just came in to give him water like he was in the huddle.

I think I need to check out for a while now. It wasn't bad. I may come back to it later.

The only way to counteract the uncontrollable estrogen excretion of his partner.

Players get to say "we", how else are they to speak of their experiences?
Matt: "So tell us about your rookie camp"
Pat: "I had fun with them, they did a lot of things to tease the other guys, the next we they and I gave it to the rookies."
(We had fun, they teased us, we got them the next year).

The "we" jar should be for sports challenged talk hosts.

So far, Mannelly has been articulate enough. Vanilla? Sure, but at least he has thoughts and can string together sentences, also his opinion on Briggs was succinct.

OK, this is getting too footbally. donovan mcnabb now? WTF? who cares about donovan mcnabb? This is one of the strengths of B&B - no guests that nobody gives a shit about, unless Mitch tells them they have to.

I've had enough. need to get some air.

Doubtful. Though I would assume it can be ok when talking Bears. I cant really listen much though anyways.

They could use a wise-ass producer that chimes in with relative frequency.

Actually, they should just move Grote to this show. Not as a third host, but as a wise-ass producer that would regularly chime in. Just the right amount of Grote.

It's been decent. Mannelly has been pretty solid and spilling some beans on the Bears. He can definitely
talk football, i just want to see how he can handle other sports and BBQ sauce talk.

But can he dispense gambling advice?

I agree it was decent.

But it was one show. No way we can say that it is no hamp and holmes. It still has the potential to be that.

Give the show a few months. Then we can make a better call

I'd say it's a real solid bet that it will never reach Hamp/Holmes status.

They should of hired Jeremy Roenick. Chicago guy, replaces Mac on hockey, and seems to enjoy all sports. And most importantly, entertaining and fun!

Exactly. That means there will be at least 5+ months where the Bears or the NFL should be a central part of the discussion. This will allow him to get more experience as a sports talk show host while the discussion centers around a team and sport he knows the best. This experience should aid in the transition during the football offseason when the discussion then increasingly turns to basketball/hockey etc., even though Mannelly sounds better versed in the other sports than one might think.
