Time to throw out names. I don't want Harbaugh. Not only is he a tool, he's a bad coach if anyone saw that Monday night game a couple of weeks back against St. Louis. Went for it two times on 4th and short with the lead, when he could have taken the easy points, and came up empty both times while letting St. Louis back in the game.

Rex or Rob Ryan
Gregg Williams (not a bad pick but has tainted past with bounty scandal in N.O.)
Brian Billick
Mike Holmgren (old but still a good pick)
Bill Lazor (Miami's O.C.)
Dave Toub

Any of these guys would be better than Tresshead.

I like the Toub idea. At least special teams would be good.

The order of firing for the bears is multiple coordinators, head coach, GM. GM and coach are sometimes interchangeable.

Uh, no. St. Louis almost caught up with Frisco two weeks ago because of Harbaugh's stupidity. You don't go for it on 4th on short twice with the lead. You take the points. If Harbaugh doesn't have an elementary understanding of this, he's no good.

And, how can we forget, HE LOST TO THE BEARS AT SAN FRAN! First time since '85.

So you are judging his coaching skills on 2 games? You might want to review Harbaughs entire body of work. He has been very successful in every coaching position that he has held. He has built winning programs and has won a lot of games. He is exactly what this soft Bears team needs. But unfortunatly the Bears dont hire experienced coaches who have a personality and are outspoken.

Either of the Ryan brothers would shake things up, too. I'd prefer Rob Ryan. Hell, I'd take Wade Phillips or even Bum Phillips at this point.

It's all relative and situational. With the lead no, you don't do that, if you're behind and need the touchdown, absolutely.

No, it's not. In 99.9999% of the situations you go for it on 4th and 1. It may even be 100%.

Note that this only applies if you want to increase your mathematical odds of winning the game. If you would like to increase your odds of losing, then you say it is relative and situational.

All it did was put St. Louis back in the game with good field position, when if they had kicked the field goal twice, the 49ers would have forced St. Louis to go the length of the field twice. I think you are over estimating the odds of success. They're not even close to what you're saying.

Until the league figured out the read option. Since then Kaepernick has been just ehhh, a regular guy. How good were the 49ers with Harbaugh and Alex Smith?
