So... I went out and got some butterfly pork chops.
Grilled to fucking perfection with some beans and taters.

I am the grill master. No really. I'm fucking awesome at it.

Sure. But you need to decide how you want to cook.
In a campfire? On the stovetop?

Start with a simple chili, perhaps. What you working with there, 6, 8 quarts?

Not sure on quarts probably 10 inches around. Entire thing is inside a floor tile. Anyway once summer comes fire for sure but for now probably oven.

Start with a chili. I prefer to simmer one on a sunday morning and have it ready for the afternoon games but it's a great starter and you can't really fuck it up.
Need a recipe?
Oh! Maybe pot roast. My mother makes it in a cast iron... or a pressure cooker.

Simple Chili:

2 large onions, 4 cloves garlic, 2 lbs ground beef (or turkey), 2 TBSP Chili Powder, 2 TBSB dried Oregano (or 4 fresh) 2 tsp ground Cumin, 1tbsp salt, 2tbsp hot sauce or better yet 2 jalapenos or 1 habenero, 2 16oz. cans whole tomatoes, 2 16 oz Kidney beans
.

Peel and chop the onion. Crush or shave the garlic.
Brown the beef, onion and garlic, drain.
Add chili powder, cumin, salt, pepper sauce (or peppers), tomatoes (break them up).
Heat it and boil it, once it's boiling, simmer for a couple hours covered.
Add beans with the liquid. Boil it uncovered.
When it reduces to the thickness you like, serve it.

Pot Roast, Campfire Goulash... all good in the dutch oven.

OH! For the Chili, a tasty add... crisp up some bacon and sprinkle it in when you add the beans. That's nice too.
Top with shredded cheese, you could buy shredded cheese but you never know where it was shredded so it might not be good, shred it yourself to be sure.

Cool we like to cook a lot. Just didn't want to wait to go camping to use the dutch oven.

I never saw your question. Where was it?

We just bought the dutch oven. The corned beef and cabbage was its maiden voyage.

DW does a pulled pork in the dutch oven... I'll ask her to post about it.

Page prior. Looking back I didn't use a question form I guess. No biggie.

Campfire goulash is literally whatever grilled leftovers you have from the night before mixed with beans and tomatoes and garlic and you mix it together in the dutch oven in the morning and put it in what's left of the campfire, cover it with some wood and go about your day, when you come back it is what it is.
When we go camping, there's usually several guys with some steak cuts left over, hot dog, sausages or brats... it all goes in the pot.

The downside to that is the campfire diarrhea the following morning.

You got the intestinal tract of a 10 year old and the face of a hot air balloon.

Sounds good if all you have is leftover meat. After cooking all day probably tastes great.

It is awesome. Of course, I'm usually pretty well intoxicated by the time the campfire stew is ready to eat.

Not really. It sits in (or on, with a cast iron skillet) the fire for hours and easily gets hot enough to cook away any bacteria.
