Preparing for a start in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) May 2 at Churchill Downs, Mubtaahij breezed three furlongs in :36 1/5 Tuesday, April 21 at Arlington Park.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum's Mubtaahij will enter the Derby off an eight-length romp in the U.A.E. Derby Sponsored by Saeed & Mohammed Al Naboodah Group (UAE-II) March 28 at Meydan. The Kentucky Derby will mark the first U.S. start for the son of Dubawi.

Mubtaahij has trained on synthetic surfaces throughout his career, which includes three wins from four races on dirt. South African-based trainer Mike de Kock, who will saddle a horse in the Derby for the first time, shipped Mubtaahij to Arlington to take advantage of the Polytrack surface there before the colt is shipped to Churchill.

On Tuesday with regular exercise rider Lisa Moncrieff aboard, Mubtaahij cantered one lap with stablemate Umgiyo and then broke off at the half-mile pole. Mubtaahij's three-furlong breeze was the only move at the distance Tuesday at Arlington.

"Everything went exactly as planned," said de Kock assistant Trevor Brown after Tuesday's drill. Mubtaahij is scheduled to be shipped to Churchill Downs in the evening Monday, April 27

Doesn't that chart make sense in a way though, this is the longest race these horses will have run to date, correct?

One point I can immediately gather is that a front runner hasn't won in over 10 years. That's why I'm not in love with American Pharoah like most are. He's front ran in every race so far. Dortmund, on the other hand, has done it a few different ways.

This weekend's big races before the big ones next Friday and Saturday.

I am saying that chart makes sense to me as the horses are racing that distance for the first time, and a lead or pace horse doesn't have the finish or kick to go all the way.

Not sure if it was in this thread or not, but the subject of boxing exactas came up. I found these columns and wanted to share for those who are like me and not as versed on the subject.

I will henceforth bet weighted part wheel exactas. I will pick the winner and then a couple of other horses (not the entire field).

Just trying to be more efficient and maximize profits.

What exactly are they saying? Are they talking about the plate he's wearing on that questionable foot? He's been wearing it all year and the foot doesn't seem to be bothering him.
