music portion.

They played Manfred Mann's Earth Band's "For You" yesterday morning and I actually had to tell the person next to me that it was a Springsteen cover. She didn't know!

I like both equally, for the record.

As with Blinded by the Light, Manfred Manns version blows Springsteens away.

Well Mully just called the Bulls' GM, Gar Forehead. I looked at a picture, and I agree with his assessment of Gar's cranial features.

Bullshit. 1 and 1A at best. Springsteen's "For You" is a whirlwind of words. (So is "Blinded by the Light," come to think of it.) I love this passage so much:

Quote:
We were both hitchhikers but you had your ears tuned to the roar
Of some metal-tempered engine on an alien, distant shore
So you left to find a better reason than the one we were living for
And it's not that nursery mouth I came back for
It's not the way you're stretched out on the floor
'Cause I've broken all your windows and I've rammed through all your doors
And who am I to ask you to lick my sores?
And you should know that's true
I came for you, for you, I came for you, but you did not need my urgency
I came for you, for you, I came for you, your life was one long emergency
And your cloud line urges me, oh, and my electric surges free

Compare and contrast with "booooooooooooorn in the USA, I was boooooooooorn in the USA"

EDIT: best cut off Greetings from Asbury Park is "Lost in the Flood," but I don't think Manfred Mann covered that one.

I find this song incredibly creative:

Because you know I'm all about that bass,
'Bout that bass, no treble
I'm all 'bout that bass, 'bout that bass, no treble
I'm all 'bout that bass, 'bout that bass, no treble
I'm all 'bout that bass, 'bout that bass

For all the body-positivity that song was supposed to foster, it appears that Meghan Trainor now has the hourglass proportions of a Barbie doll.

They're playing Blinded by the Light right now. The good one by Manfred Mann.

They had a funny interview with Richard Lewis this morning. It's a good show, and there's really nothing else on in the morning that I want to listen to. Can't do Mully and Hanley for more than a few minutes and can't listen to Mike and Mike unless at least Greenberg is not there. McMurray is a little vapid, but Kathy Voltmer actually sounds like a professional -- she can read and has a pleasant voice, which are TWO things she has in her favor over any update person at the Score.

Mary Dixon - Daria = Kathy Voltmer

Is Mary Dixon misanthropic? I never really got that impression from her. Then again, I usually change the station when she's doing the news and don't hear much banter between she and Brehmer.
