Rape kit takes an average of 60 hours of actual lab work per kit. That's time in the lab doing science stuff. On average. Who knows if they even started analyzing the rape kit in Kaner's case.

The US has a backlog of like 400K rape kits. I believe NY State had one of the worst backlogs; but they changed the procedures last decade and have chipped away at their backlog.

Even if they "fast-track" Kaner's rape kit, I wouldn't expect the lab to do an average job. Wouldn't be surprised if they have every test run twice, by different techs. So now you're at 120 hours or more of actual lab time.

I don't expect to see the rape kit results until late September/early October. Maybe later. People have been charged and convicted of rape years later, based on rape kit results. Happens all the time. There's a reason they do rape kits. Rape kits have become very probative in court in criminal trials.

the value of information--esp negative information--in any trial or negotiation increases in value as the time between when a decision maker is given the information and has to make a decision decreases.

If kaner's team pulls out affidavits from the bar owner staff throwing legit shade on the proper person at a pre-trial/pre-discovery settlement conference...it has more impact than leaking that negative information weeks/months prior.

same for a jury---the more new information you can present to a jury to bolster your case at trial, the better. all of these rumors and slut-shaming will be well-known by the jury pool and heavily discounted by the time the jury gets around to making a decision.

Kaner's legal team should've been in the bar the day they found out they were repping Kaner for rape, executed affidavits for all relevant bar staff/owners/patrons and then asked that those people not talk to the media.

Having never raped/been raped, hard to say how a person being raped reacts to being in the house of a famous star athlete at 4 am and excusing yourself to go into a quiet bedroom to chill out; having that famous star athlete follow you into the bedroom sometime later and violently attack and rape you. A lot of victims of violent crime--not just rape victims--freeze up and don't scream or even fight back much.

But, hey, here's an idea: how about we run a test this weekend. You throw on your nicest dress, some panties (thong, preferably, please), heels and go out and get good and drunk. after the bar, stop by my place and go into an empty bedroom and wait. I'll come by and rape you and we'll see how you react. You can even have a mollyed-up Beardown in a dress waiting out in the living room. All in the name of science, of course.

What are the conflicting stories? The only thing I've heard in this case that I'd call "spin" has come from the bar owner who actually expects people to believe that notorious drunk Patrick Kane spent all night at his place and left at 3:00 a.m. stone cold sober.

The same article that had no verifiable sources and then went on to interview several friends and co-workers of the accuser who all said what a girl scout she was. The same article that at the very end had a blurb about how Kane's SC party was more like a funeral. That wasn't spin???
