Actually I think he is a defense lawyer. She hired him to represent him in some odd and unclear fashion, but he works as a criminal defense attorney.

Yes. The lack of dna in the rape kit was not proof that he was innocent. However, irregularities with the collection of evidence brings the whole investigation into question.

Kane's lawyers can point to this to help establish a reasonable doubt if it goes to trial. How can we trust any of the dna evidence?
