But Dan hasn't had fun on his own show in years.

The funny part is that this statistic was created in 2009, but all of a sudden it is considered newsworthy.

THERE. IS. NO. SUCH. THING. AS. CLUTCH. Except Anthony Rizzo who is the clutchiest clutcher to ever clutch a bat.

At this point it wouldn't shock me if Dan evolved so that Rizzo is grindy.

btw, fanduel is slipping today! today i heard a joe-o read/commercial for post-week-2 where he said "maybe you're 2-0 and sitting pretty, or maybe you're 0-2 and it's starting to look bad" and he went on to mention some of the week 3 matchups to look forward to for bigtime points.... on the eve of week 4 starting no less!

compare and contrast that with draftkings who will have tannehill, on a day-off/sick-day/not-in-studio-day PHONE IN for his MULTIPLE up to the minute live/ish reads pointing out [INJURY/BREAKOUT/BUST NEWS FROM YESTERDAY] and rah rah rah blah blah blah LIFE-CHANGING PAYDAY(TM)!!!! yeah.... seriously fanduel you gotta step your game up! you had at least one whole season of a head start on the score (who can forget those ubiquitous spiegel reads and HEY YOU MR. ABOVE-AVERAGE FANTASY PLAYER being all over every commercial break for the whole of the last season or two?) but now you're clearly #2 on the score behind draftkings, who just went and took your damn #1-gambling-fantasy-site status away!

for me in my baseball lifetime (2001-present) joe crede is that guy. i wanna say right up until the very very end of his career he was extraordinarily clutch for whatever (if any) reason/s.

The outcome of a game due to the collective efforts of two teams is random; an individual performance can be clutch.

(I don't know if that works; I'm just guessing at his response)

I flat out couldn't believe he said that, but a windsock's gonna windsock.

Still the best show in Chicago, but today, it may only be marginally superior to the other shows rather than far superior.

Fabulous.

And lets not forget that ol' redass Rizzo is the Cubbie who will be ready to fight to preserve the unwritten (no showboating) rules of baseball. Ugh.

This lack of awareness is why I have problems with most Cubbie fans.

Bernstein might slowly be realizing that sports is not a bunch of computer equations running around on a field (well, I suppose they might be, but it is far beyond our comprehension at this point).

He absolutely said the first half verbatim, he uncomfortably talked around (& basically acknowledged) the second.

No, no he did not. I typed it. I made it up on the fly. I actually typed the first part out much more simply ("The outcome of a game is random") and then quickly amended it. So, again, no he didn't say that at all, let alone verbatim.

Maybe my sarcasm/joke meter is off today.

Dan Bernstein (when discussing conversations he's having with people about the WC game) said close to "I tell them that the outcome of any one game is random" then adding that you just don't know. Terry then chuckled that fortunately he's only being asked about the St. Louis series as if the WC game is a fait accompli.

I also heard him use the word "clutch" & his acknowledgement that he was going to pay for that, unless the stupid could understand the backwards looking & contrived methodology behind this glorious new (contrived) stat.

That a player's stats will be the same, over a long sample size, batting in the first innings with nobody on as it will be in the ninth with the game on the line. So if a player bats .300 with runners in scoring position. He probably also bats .300 with nobody on base.

My argument would be to say "what happened to Rick Ankiel in the playoffs?"

There are guys that tighten up in big situations. To deny that is crazy.

Yes.

Peyton Manning
Aroid
Kershaw
Cutler

The best part was how Danny said that Terry has been saying this for years. You know who else has been saying this for years? The man they love to mock, Hawk.

The bomb was "dropped" just after he started his crap, so it seemed premeditated. It was great because MB kept talking while the sound effect was being played, apparently not knowing whether to stop or continue:

I haven't heard WYC in about 2 months, and pretty every topic was either Bernstein ripping a Republican candidate or a caller doing the same thing. Their signature segment, at least in July, had turned into a GOP bashing session. Not sure if that was a 'small sample size' or not....

WYC should just be blown up at this point...hasn't been the same since Gary died anyway.

Fuck Maddux Boy...that guy is an asswipe.
