The study actually said that eating "too much" red meat could lead to an increase in the chances of colrectal cancer.

Living a long life also increases the chances of death.

Also, WHO said "processed meats" are what 'could' increase the risk of cancer, by 18%.

They did not commit to a stance on steaks besides 'probably carcinogenic.' Which means soybean farmers paid them off.

Living means 100% certainty for death.

"To put this in perspective, the lifetime risk of colon cancer is 5 percent," Agus said. "If you have a hot dog every day, your risk goes to 6 percent."

good thing I mix up my lunch rotation with gryos, beefs, burgers, and tamales.

What about a hot Italian sausage, do you have room in your hole for that?

On a serious note, I cut out red meat about four years ago. My cholesterol dropped from 260 to 180 within six months.

I probably had some form of red meat nearly everyday. Typically if we had hamburgers, I would eat two. Chili on Sundays for football. Steak regularly on business trips or at dinner.

I cut down on portions, started using ground turkey and chicken for things like chili and burgers.

I purposely avoided the pills. The nice side benefit to reducing intake was the immediate weight loss.

You should talk about this with my grandma and her friends at their next garden party. Maybe you can exchange recipes on how to make kale more exciting.

I swear cholesterol must be a hereditary thing as well. My diet is very red meat focused and my numbers have never been above 160.

Smoking is still way worse:

Quote:
Independent experts stressed that the WHO findings should be kept in perspective.

"Three cigarettes per day increases the risk of lung cancer sixfold," or 500 percent, compared with the 18 percent from eating a couple slices of bologna a day, said Gunter Kuhnle, a food nutrition scientist at the University of Reading.

It's genetic. The total number is big but the ratio is more important.

I'm I'm the same boat as you. It's a good one to be on.

It was never not OK to eat meat!

Also, it was "processed" meats that were in the crosshairs , as for red meat? Well, it "probably" increases your chances of getting colon cancer.

Hahahah, oh brother!

Working an office job is more likely to kill you than meat, maybe, I pretty much just made that up, but it is probably true.

I'm on the caveman diet now. I only eat what I kill and I don't shower except when I find a lake.

Ha!

The study was a study based off 800 other studies. The processed meat thing was bases on chemicals used to form and preserve the meat. The study even said that you still need meat in your diet and a lot of issues arise from the way the meat is cooked.

Lots of scary stuff being bandied about.
