All this thread is doing is making me want to burn some airline miles and go to Joe's, Gates, and LC's in Kansas City and eat great BBQ all day and fly home.

Went to the VH location for lunch today. Really wasn't as bad as shakes' advertised. Brisket was juicy and quite good. The cornbread casserole was good. I like their Carolina sauce.

Maybe it's because it was fresh at the restaurant and not catered in...

Occams Razor would suggest that you simply don't have good taste.

holy shit...I just had a flashback to 1982. I remember it now...I remember what good BBQ is.

Ozark Bar-B-Que. We used to stay at Millstone Lodge...It's all Condos now.

Had Joe's last week in KC. Yum! When I have an extended family visit there I need to check out some of the other offerings. I have done Joe's twice now and am
hesitant to leave a good thing.

Made pulled pork for Sunday's 'Skins game. I don't have a go-to sauce. Picked this out randomly, and it's pretty damn good.

I've done the KC weekend a couple of times with a non-sports national board. 8am flight from Chicago and pick upba rental car. You start at Joe's at 11 to minimize the line, go to LC's or I have heard good things about Driftwood or I think it is called Q47, then take a break for a few hours, then do the original Bryant's and Gates in the early evening. If makes for a fantastic Saturday. Then on Sunday, go to a Royals game at 1pm and then take then take the last flight back to Chicago around 7p after a snack at the Waffle House two exits south of the airport.

It is a glorious weekend, and best done as a group of 4-8 so as to share food at the various stops.

 That's a lot of BBQ in one day! Thankfully I should have many years to check these out, but I appreciate the recommendations.

Do your travels ever take you through Massachusetts? I guarantee you that the barbecue I get going in my back yard will blow your mind. I am planning on building a brick pit this summer.

I have complete faith in both your and Dr. Ken's Que-ing skills and now hate that I don't see a trip through New England anytime soon. Damn, damn, damn...

White Sox at Royals, the third weekend of September... seems like a perfect time to go to KC.
