hinrich with a couple late 4th qtr 3's wide open and he missed both. not bad misses, right on target but slightly too strong. too bad, they could have won tonight

Why do the Raptors own the tie breaker?

They split the season series, but Toronto has a better record in the East.

I ended up looking it up. It's because they are leading their division.

I'm not sure how it will translate to the NBA, but I saw him take guys off the dribble a lot in the tourney and from what I've read about him that part of his game has really improved. I like his height for a backcourt player, and I think he will be athletic enough for Thibs to mold into a solid player. I definitely think he has a much higher ceiling than a guy like Snell. I will say that part of this is me being a little down on Jimmy this year. I think it's clear he's not going to be the Kawhi Leonard/Luol Deng type player we all were hoping for after last season. He looks like a poor man's Tony Allen.

I think it may be high time to dig into the not so distant past for a few of these little nuggets.

Knock yourself out. That season Butler averaged 13 ppg on 39% shooting. I was wrong about him, but it's not like the reasoning wasn't based on reality at the time. Don't be salty that you have terrible NBA opinions and get called out for them. And unlike you, I don't need to dig two years in the past for them.

If Butler wants to rub these posts in my face, or FavreFan's face, fine. He worked hard to get good. He did not come into the NBA like this. He earned it...and has proven us and many experts wrong. Good for him.

But... we're guys that recognize this and appreciate how he is a top talent in the NBA. You're the one still trying to deny it, and trying to use posts of ours from before he worked hard and became good as proof he is not good currently?

Like...that's just weird.

This is what passes for credible posting however. I'm simply wondering how he can go from a "poor man's Tony Allen to a "potential Hall of famer in about what, a year and a half's time.

This thought is bad on a few levels. 1. He was already a better player than Tony Allen by that point and time. I'm a Tony Allen fan and I will admit that Butler was better. Thibs that astute judge of talent, was playing him 48 minutes during playoff games by that point. We all know that he doesn't miss on talent.

2. You double down on your bad analysis by suggesting that he is now a potential hall of famer. He isn't. It is interesting how you can go from one extreme to another without skipping a beat. If only Granville Waiters could've pivoted like this. He would've been a hall of famer.

You were denying it as late as last season. You're the person that chose to champion the cause of a broken down Luol Deng. You're the guy that chose to not rely on the eye test. If you had, you would have known that Luol Deng was incapable of playing at a high level anymore. Cleveland proved that. You were arguing this even as Butler was having an All Star season.

I didn't know that there was a statute of limitations on this stuff. You are the guy that watches basketball games for the purpose of analyzing spreadsheets. If you'd actually watched the Luol Deng that played in Cleveland you would have known that the Butler of last season was better. Now you are recognizing his talent when the cats already out of the bag. How convenient of you to do so.

I'm not actually arguing against him being an all star. I'm merely suggesting that the best way for the Bulls to have successful season is by having him be the 2nd or 3rd best player on the team. I gave you his isolation stats from last yr. Not good. He is not a dynamic offensive player. That's not a knock. A lot of guys arent. As such the offense shouldn't run through him. That's my argument.

Luol Deng is my favorite Bull of all time. I feel as if you're discounting emotion factored into exclamations I made. Furthermore, again, Jimmy Butler had only been performing at that 'Luol Deng' level for half a season...after seasons of being 'just a guy.' Luol Deng had been consistent for years and years. It wasn't outrageous for me to hold that opinion in February of 2015.

This new angle of yours is useless to you.

The "best way" for the Cavaliers to have their best season is for Lebron James to be their 2nd or 3rd best player also. But it's hard for teams to have two of the top 12 players in the NBA. You know what would make it easier for the Bulls to have a successful season? Hire better front office folks... for example, ones that recognize it would have best served the organization to trade Pau Gasol last week.

He can be your favorite Bull of all time but it was quite clear that Butler was the better player by the time he began to receive regular playing time. The Deng that played in Cleveland stunk like hell. The Eye test strongly suggested that. I watched a lot of Cleveland because I'm a Kyrie Irving fan. That is how I knew.

Jimmy Butler is not LeBron James. He also is not a top 12 player. Closer to 20 and if I really thought about it I could come up with 30-35 guys that are better. I don't know what you could have got for Gasol either. Remember you have to match salaries.

I'm just amazed with all of the new found Butler love. One guy has him as a poor man's Tony Allen while the other guy is suggesting that that the Bulls would be better off with a past his prime and rapidly declining Luol Deng. Is that what passes for "credible" posting on here? The newfound love of Butler renders you to be nothing more than a run of the mill fair weather fan.

Again no one really gives two flying fucks what you think. Countless NBA analysts has put Butler between 12th and 17th best player in the league before this season even started.

You would be dumb enough to put 35 players in front of him. I would expect nothing less.

Your consensus speak angle doesn't quite pass the smell test. You're the same guy who argued that the 5th best player on a team that missed the playoffs is better than the guy you now proclaim to be the 12th best player in the league. It was around this time a year ago that you made the argument. Its just not working out well for another one of the "credible" posters. It is not like Butler just arrived this year either. He was an All Star last year. Deng was also last seen stinking up Cleveland so you knew sort of what you had. But considering it was you providing the "analysis" maybe not. This about face is truly impressive on the Butler front.
