I remember Larry once bragging about being accepted to Harvard. Then saying something like "I weighed my options and chose DePaul".
I believe Larry is a pathological liar.
He also said he got into Michigan but instead chose DePaul.
See, I believe he did get in to Michigan and Illinois and did receive academic scholarship money. He's bright enough, came from a good school district and provided a desirable demographic. Just as everything with Sir, the way he tells the story doesn't really reflect the way these things occurred.
A guy like Bernstein will even concede that he couldn't get into Duke under today's standards. Sir takes it the other way.
If he had a scholarship of anykind, you know that would have been provided in great detail many many times.
Guessing a financial aid package being the kid of a teacher thing, good grades, checked the Alaskan box, etc....I know DePaul had programs for such a kid, IF they kept up their grades, got a credit for tuitions...which I am SURE of!
