Was he saying that 9/11 in and of itself stopped their momentum or was he suggesting that the Yankees beat them due to overwhelming public support for New York during that time? (i.e. did the players feel a subconscious sympathy which prevented them from trying their best to beat the sentimental favorite)

I thought it was an interesting and entertaining interview. Sure Lou could have added that there were much bigger issues connected to that Sept. 11th, but that it seemed to have a detrimental effect on the team's momentum, as perhaps with bigger issues at hand, players may have lost a bit of focus. It was interesting to me, as I had never thought about how the events of 9/11 may have affected teams differently. The Yankees seemed to rally around the city and played well afterwards if I remember correctly. I enjoyed the interview.
