McGowan is pitching. Maybe he will throw an 83 mph pitch.

If you want to say Quintana is one of the best losers ever, I have no issue. I think Joel Horlen has the lowest ERA for a loser.

Rodon battled tonight. He still needs to be more efficient with his pitches but he looks like he's turning the corner.

They should sell Turner to a fishing boat so they could chop him up and use him as chum. At least he'll be good for something.

I think today is the anniversary of the Sox losing first place in '67. (Edit: Ok, it's tamarra.)

In Horlen's defense, the Sox hit .225/.228 in 1967-68, when his ERA was 2.19 over those two seasons....

The best broadcast teams in my lifetime have all been Sox guys by a wide margin.
1.Drysdale/Hawk
2.Harry/Jimmy
3.Hawk/Wimpy

The #1 thing I would like to get out of the end of this season is a repeat of what Rodon did over the last few months of last year.

Through 115 games, the Chicago White Sox are 55-60.

The last time they were 55-60 @ 115 games was in 2015.

The last time before that was in 2014.

I'm not sure I'm entirely sold on their 3-year plan.

It appears to be a fantastic plan, maybe just not the one Sox should be using.

Especially Chip and Stone when both knew they wouldn't be back. The season of "The Louisiana Larupper" was great.

It would be interesting to see where the Sox would be if Abreu was hitting like this all season.

Hopefully they will put Shields on the DL with some imaginary injury. I've seen more than enough of his bullshit act.

And no. Jose Quintana is a #2 on almost any team...and could be a #1 on more than several. White Sox fans have just decided to make him a scapegoat because they'd rather blame one pitcher than identify that their entire lineup is one of the weakest in baseball.

Nobody has done anything of the kind. In fact, Sox fans have created a fake Hall of Fame plaque for that clown lamenting his "lack of run support". Jose Quintana is a number two on a bad team (the Sox). He would be a number one on a terrible team.

No one has made him a scapegoat or blamed the White Sox' woes on Quintana. The point is that he's not a Cy Young candidate or a "Top Ten Pitcher In The Majors". He's just a decent guy. If he's your third best pitcher, you're going to be okay. If he's your fourth best starter you're probably gonna win your division. He doesn't make a lot of money for what he gives you. If you could lock in your number three guy at 12-13 with two hundred innings pitched, you'd probably be wise to do it. You probably go 17-16 in his starts, if you have a lockdown bullpen maybe you get 18-15 out of those starts. But he isn't some ace stud no matter how much you sit around lamenting his "lack of run support".

If a team gave Quintana 5 runs a game he'd figure out a way to give up 6 in many of those contests.
