Hall of Famer? Does anyone know what the qualifications are for an offensive lineman to be a Hall of Famer?

What's the criteria for a "yes" vote?

Be good enough to warrant one.

For centers I'd start with "can snap a fucking football" and disqualify Kreutz immediately.

The football Hall of Fame is strange. There are some weird guys in there and some great guys that aren't. How could Singletary be in there when Tommy Nobis is not?

Because the HOF voters said, "Who?"

Yeah, but to be fair, you could have at least named a football player.

Modern age players that made it playing at least part of their careers at the Center position.... No idea Bednarik played Center, yikes!
I recognize Dawson, Matthews, Stephenson and Webster growing up. Not a position that gets a lot of guys in there. Kreutz was better
than average, maybe even Hall of Very Good but I don't think he will be gracing the NFL Hall of Fame.

Chuck Bednarik (C-LB) 1949-1962
Dermontti Dawson (C) 1988-2000
Jim Langer (C) 1970-1981
Bruce Matthews (G, T, C) 1983-2001
Jim Otto (C) 1960-1974
Jim Ringo (C) 1953-1967
Dwight Stephenson (C) 1980-1987
Mike Webster (C) 1974-1990

Olin Kreutz greatest play was punching Fred Miller at the FBI shooting range.

Joe Namath is in the Hall of Fame. He threw 173 TDs and 220 INTs in his career. Yeah, the football HOF is weird. Nobody with that ratio should be a HOFer.

Oh, trust me... I know. You can barely finish their ribeye, and the weekend drink specials will knock you on your ass.

I wonder how rare that a player and their direct replacement both made the HOF. Webster-Dawson, Montana-Young future Farve-Rodgers.

Mike Singletary was a winner.

That's a guy whose presence was greater than his numbers. He was a great a player and anyone who played against him will say that.

Interesting. I thought Hilgy was in. No way Kreutz gets in before him. Covert is probably more deserving than either of them, but maybe his career is a little short.

What was Namath's WAR?

And no way Kruetzy should be in before Hilgy.
