Personally I would rather have Watson, but I'm not an NFL scout. Shit, even if I were an NFL scout it wouldn't matter. There is some sort of magic to finding a QB that just cannot be quantified or known before a guy gets into the league. If the Bears like (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky that's good enough for me.

I am on the same page as BRogue in that I think (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky may be a good QB. To justify him at 2 he needs to be a star for MANY years.

If that happens then I won't care about the extra picks lost.

But that's a big if for a guy who started 13 college games.

The Bears current front office has actually shown an adeptness at finding playable QB's, but until this offseason they really didn't try to find a long term starter. Nobody really knows if they can or cannot draft and scout a QB...anyone who tells you this pick is a slam dunk or total failure already is full of shit.

Well the risk by staying put was that SF would take (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky (supposedly not likely) and the Bears would be "stuck" with Watson. Is that worth giving up the other picks? I don't think so.

So...
we give a QB a 3 year 40 something million dollar whatever and then a few months later give up 3 draft picks to move up one to get...
a QB.

Does this seem... odd? What the...
whatever man.
Who the fuck is starting next season?

It is not about the 49ers taking (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky.

The Bears were bidding against other teams. Cleveland, who is loaded with picks, was almost assuredly among them. We dont know if there were others. The 49ers sold their pick to the highest bidder, they were never going to take (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky.

If they keep him, how will they justify not working him out when they did the other three? To maintain the deception?

Glennon's deal probably has a way out after 1 year without too much pain.

Jay Cutler is probably laughing his ass off.

Again, staying put would have left them your guy Watson IF (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky was targeted by others @ 2. Not worth the bounty IMO.

They really didn't give up that much. Look at the Wentz, Goff, RGIII etc. trades...Bears really got somewhat of a bargain to draft a QB when you look at recent history.

So the bears for sure aren't trading (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky if Cleveland is trying for cousins

It actually makes a lot of sense. Its only a 1 year deal if Glennon sucks, if Glennon is good its a 3 year deal. Bears are trying to create roster redundancies at the QB position, something I (and many, many, many others) have been advocating for a long time. If Glennon is good then the Bears go into next offseason with a very good problem.

They moved up ONE spot for a QB that would likely have still been there while another highly ranked prospect was definitely going to be there. it was ONE spot. You seem to ignore that part.

Right, but they didn't give up a 1st or 2nd round pick. Take a look at the guys drafted in the 3rd and 4th round, a few decent players (and rarely some real standouts) but hardly the kind of success rate you see in the first two rounds. Bears really didn't sacrifice that much...if (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is good you will not be missing those picks.

Count me in this camp as well.

I do not have a problem with picking him...but they gave up other picks when they have other needs.

They better be right...he better be a great QB for a long time.

The good thing about this is Pace has hung his hat on this dude. He will be judged based on this pick alone. If he is good, Pace will look great, if he is bad Pace will be gone shortly.

Smart. Bears are really one of the stupidest pro franchises when it comes to the draft. They could miss a piss pot standing one inch from their junk.

This is Jimmypastaesque meatball at its finest. "Playable" presumably refers to backups who were marginally better than expected while leading the Bears to losses. Nobody knows if they can or can't draft a QB is because Pace never selected one despite saying they should draft one every year. I can see why you're a true believer.

Hey America, when was the last QB with one year of starting experience in college to become a star in the NFL?

I'll wait for my answer.
