my FIL and his partners sold a construction company to a scottish company that was going to change things drastically. they got a lot of hate from their employees regarding it. But after 3 or 4 years of bitter union negotiations and it continually getting worse, they sold the company (they'd been flirting with the idea for a number of years) they were all in the early 60's and just had it with dealing with the unions.

The unions basically shot themselves in the foot in that instance and now deal with a different set of managers who are horrible.

Parkins said exactly this today. First he opined that they shut it down because "there would be less liberal media" , then he said "why can't he keep it running even if he isn't making a profit".

Somebody else start it back up if it was so good and made money.

Even in today's market, if you provide a good enough media product, people will pay for it. I gladly pay $40 for The Athletic each year and will continue to do so. There is a model for it.

I value their sports writing more than I value an extra $40 in my pocket. That's how markets work.
