He obviously is taking minority few points, and just trying to create attention for his show with some of those comments.
I think you mean minority VIEW points...and yes, that's Mike. He has a good sense of what the public thinks, and then he often goes the other way. It's his #1 strategy in handicapping/sports gambling and it also seems to often be his stock in trade in formulating many of his opinions on the show. He figures out who Joe Six Pack likes or dislikes and then makes a case for thinking the opposite way. When people despised McNown, he loved the guy. Remember when Urlacher was drafted? Mike railed about it and said the Bears should have drafted Janikowski instead. I asked him at that time..."Draft a kicker with your first pick????" It generated a lot of attention on the show, though. Remember, Mike also was about the only host in town who regularly defended Dick Jauron (well the only one besides Hub who defended Jauron until
the Bears canned Hub, then he trashed Jauron). In gambling, such a strategy of "going the other way" has some merit. In critical thinking and formulating opinions on issues that matter, such an approach is quite humorous.
He's also been on the Heath Miller (TE for Pittsburgh) bandwagon since the draft...Despite the fact that he wasn't a top 5 pick, North wanted the Bears to take him at 4. We can all argue about the Benson pick, but taking Miller at 4 is not a good move when you can get him later on.
