I'm officially temporarily switching. I can't fucking stand Mike and Mike any longer.

I've stuck with the show for personal reasons, but I'm trying the switch. Here are my thoughts:

1. M & M ars SO full of themselves. It comes through in every segement. I don't want to hear about their self-absorbed bets or sheets of intergrity. I don't want to hear about "Duel". And I could care less to hear about how Golic's kids are doing or when they had sex with their wives.

2. M&M is the same repetitive crap. If you watch NFL Live, Baseball Tonight, or even SportsCenter, you'll hear their guests saying the exact same shit they said the night before.

3. Whenever I'm bored as shit hearing Jay Bilas spew his shit, I can turn over to MNMS and hear something about the local teams.

4. North's show has a more "real" feel than Mike & Mike. Everything out of Mike and Mike is scipted for Hollywood. I could care less that Stink is on the Guiding Light.

5. Most think North is an idiot, but that's been his schtick since Day 1. The hotdog stand salesman turned radio talk show host. What else could you expect?

I listen to sports talk radio from 5am until 8am. I just can't take Mike and Mike anymore, so I'm going to go cold turkey with Mike North for a week or so and see how it goes.

Thoughts?

NSJ + Keeping Score = MATCH??

whats wrong with talking personal stuff once in awhile, you are on 4 hours. Tell me the last time Mike North had a impromptu intellectual debate that rivaled the debate they had about Papelbon's value as a starter vs closer?? Yes they are overexposed and don't have the local flavor but geez man its infinitely better radio.

Also Mike North is combative in his interviews, I respect that, but his interview skills in general are horrible. Let me ask a 45 second question where I have answer it for you, and then interrupt you 5 seconds into your answer chinaman. Keep it.

Always loved a Mike North totally insane rant, with made up words, facts that he claims are true and stats that are as far off as anyone could possibly be, problem is now he has nobody to bring it all back in to have a real discussion and then just too many foolish statements are made with no end to the foolishness.

I would compare it with Will Ferrel, who is great in a number of movies as a co star, his stupid humor is great when he is with others, but since anchorman anything he is the sole star in I think just sucks.

His finest work is in "Silent Bob and Jay take Hollywood". Hi stupidity is in just the right amounts.

I've often has said that I listen to 560 AM's morning talk show, and think they do an excellent job of providing interesting Chicago social/poltical topics with some national news mixed in as well. I just hope their ratings are doing ok.

Anyways, good thoughts on the morning shows. I don't hate either show, but North's show is just too uninformed, and makes a lot of just stupid comments (I'm not breaking any news here). I used to love his passion, but he gets way too bored with Chicago sports now.

The other show I don't have a huge problem with - a bit too gimickly, but covers the national scene pretty well, and have some good guests (for the most part). Sometimes, they try too hard to be funny, but overall, a good morning show.

I don’t know who it was or on which board, but someone a while back suggested that if you don’t like it, don’t listen. And I’ve tried it as best as I can but while waiting for the car to warm up (particularly on sub-freezing mornings) I need to listen to something other than whether I have a sticking valve lifter. M&M doesn’t appeal to me because in part I knew Greenie back when, and I predict that his next gig will be as a prime time game show host. Which is why in the meanwhile he’s converted Golic to sound as fey as possible while the two go on their self-absorbed journeys of self-indulgence.

Which leaves me with North. I don’t think Mike Murphy has ever pretended to be more than a one-trick pony, and North has plagiarized Murphy with the great form of flattery ever. “What-if” bell excepted. North’s one-trick act is that of an idiot, and he doesn’t fail to remind any non-mouth breather with an IQ above room temperature of this at least once every five minutes.

I have a short commute to the train (under 10 minutes) and the game I play with the radio is “who long before I call North an idiot and turn off the radio?” I can’t recall making it to the train once last month before I switched off the radio. Then again there were evenings where I tried to make the conscious effort not to leave the station on 670 but with ESPN going to tape replay when I get home its hard to make the effort to switch to a station that I’m not listening to just to avoid what I’ll hear in the morning.

Now that its baseball season again the radio will be on 670.

There is really the potential to be good with a captive audience that just wants to hear something that doesn’t make you feel more stupid with each passing minute. Of late, these boards pass for better entertainment.

Only caught 10 minutes of each show today. . .

Golic's other son was being "interviewed" saying he had accepted Notre Dame's offer on Friday. Later it more discussion of Golic's multiple sheets.

Flipped over to the Score and their talking about the Sox.

Remarkable.

All points well-stated. HOWEVER, if the "it's-all-about-me" angle really bothers you, you're in for a rude awakening as you hear about North and HIS house and HIS basement and HIS wife and HIS trips to Gibson's and Tony's Deli and HIS high school coaching gig and HIS "cute-as-a-button" little producer and all HIS good buddies in the sports world and HIS . . . well, I think you catch my drift.

None of the above. With XM you get Steve Czaban in the am. His show isn't perfect...no show is...but it doesn't have the obvious issues these two shows have.

I'm starting to think that Steve Czaban has a larger following on this board than Mike North or at least more who like him.

Is one of the problems with his show Brandon Lange?

I know that Hawkeye Vince is a fan of the Czabe too.

Interesting . . . Mike would take Candace Parker over Loul Deng.

Let's see . . . . I'll take Deng.

I wonder how badly a good high school men's team would beat the Tennessee women's team.

Today on Mike & Mike Greenie stated the he was appalled that Golic won so much money with his other sheets taking away from his vicotry in their head to head bracket challenge.

Golic's response: "WHY???"

Wait a second. I heard this script yesterday AND Monday. It would be one thing if they did the same skit over and over again (even on the same day at different hours for different audiences), but when they do it three days in a row and pretend to have new, spontaneous reacations to the same crap is ridiculous.

North doesn't do this, does he?

No chance - UT women would beat Simeon 100 out of 100 times.

Not just high schools. The Lady Vols would knock off a lot of men's college programs.

The Lady Vols are as well-coached as any high school team, and they execute their game plans just as well too. So that leaves athleticism, right?

Don't discount them simply because they're women. Candace Parker won't jump as high as CDR, but she's still a world-class athlete. And a tremendous player who would start for any program in Chicagoland except the Bulls (...and that's a maybe).

Obviously, the entire team isn't as athletic as Parker. But the same is true of men's teams. How long could Memphis' Pierre Niles run in the Stanford women's triangle offense? Thirty seconds?

Not even close. I know for a fact that the Purdue women's team, who has been one of the top 10 women's basketball programs in the country, regularly practice against a squad of normal college students and the scrimmages between them are more competitive than their practices against each other. This team of men are people who could not even walk-on to the men's team.

The worst team in division 1 would beat the UT women.

If you're still arguing on the basis of "men are athletes, women aren't," then I'll put down the crack pipe when the average Chicago sports fan can outperform Candace Parker on either the high jump or the bench press.

Obviously I'm not saying that the Lady Vols are going to take apart the Buckeyes night after night, BD.

But take Loyola as an example. They got run off the court in a midmajor conference. How far do they get in the women's NCAAs? A couple rounds, maybe?

But speaking of OSU, we would have taken Candace Parker for the men's team in a heartbeat when I was there. Granted, this was when Ayers held open tryouts to find enough walkons to field a team and the smell of gunpowder still lingered over Antonio Watson's tires...

Check out their roster. 5ft2, 5ft4, 5ft10, 5ft11.

Their three centers are 6ft 4inches.

I'd love to see UT try and guard Kosta Koufas and Othello Hunter.
I'd love to see them try and stop Jamar Butler off the dribble.
