We draft a TE, Fuckin A.

Depth issues at LB, still could maybe find a decent guard, and we draft a TE.

Pick 158- TE Kellen Davis, Mich. St.

Obviously a value pick, not a need pick. Kiper had him as a second round pick, and SI had hime as the 2nd-best TE, above Keller of Purdue who was a #1, so make of that what you will.

If you're looking to shore up need positions at this point, you're going to be disappointed. I'd rather have the 3rd-best TE than the 19th best OLB.

Well, at least hes not afraid of most anything.

What reality TV show would you like to be on and why?
Fear Factor - I'm not afraid of most anything.

Shoring up positions is part 'n parcel of the late rounds. Im not so sure you cant find a nice player at G or LB right now.

You have a veteran in Clark who has earned his time, and a rookie last year who couldn't seem to find the field, so lets bring in another TE!

This is a joke....you don't draft a 3rd QB, but you grab ANOTHER TE?where are you going to turn when both Grossman and Orton Fail this year? Where are we going to go in the future?

Grossman and Orton will both not be a part of this team for '09.

This is the draft that seals both Smith and Angelo's fate in Chicago.
It's over, Johnny.

exactly, you don't draft for need after day one. Now you look for value. Keller has the potential to be a really valuable pick. Having him and Olsen on the field, could cause serious back problems.

They have no one who can get them the ball. It's a moot point.

More to the point, you have a veteran who puts up near league leading numbers when Rex doesn't suck, and a rookie who got shit time last year because of a coaching staff that makes your head hurt.

Its not about finding starters now, or even role players, its about finding depth. Its what every other team is doing.

Davis has the ability to be great, but the pickings are about as thin as can be at some positions we need to add some depth. It wont get any better.

Two picks after ours and Tampa grabs Josh Johnson. The Bears were really high on that kid, and so was I.

Man, ESPN's coverage of day 2 is pure garbage. I had to give up on it. They're like 30 fucking picks behind, so what do they do? Hey, let's do 3 interviews in a row and get an even 50 picks behind. Brutal. What the fuck do I care about interviews? It's the fucking draft. Cover the fucking draft. Why are they even fucking there if they're not going to cover the draft? And the fucking roundtable? WTF is that all about? What, the guys at the draft couldn't waste enough time on their own, so they had to out-source some time-wasting to the studio people? Just awful.

i ask this only out of curiosity, not to criticize: are all of you guys really watching the wall-to-wall coverage of the draft, or just checking in once and awhile? i love football, i am in heaven all season long watching games, and i get into off-season player movement, hell, i even flipped past the combine every now and again to see who was doing what, but for the life of me, i cant bring myself to sit and watch those talking heads babble on and on and on for 2 days of draft coverage. i hit the nfl website a couple times yesterday to see who my team got, and again this afternoon, but beyond that, i cant handle the information OVERLOAD and all the yapping. id rather see a list online or in the paper, it doesnt shout at me how great or how lousy every pick is.

and what was that thing i saw on espn yesterday? a MOCK draft, being televised and argued over and yelled about? please. give me some WSOP reruns.

i give the nfl credit for somehow turning what is basically a long league meeting into a television event.

is this must-see tv for the rest of you, or are there others who find the draft coverage a strange phenomenon?

So much for that pipe dream. World Champs grabbed him at #32 in the 6th round.

Graded at 3.05. Erin Henderson, OLB, sitting there graded at 3.77. Why not take the best available?

Another Mark Anderson clone. Can get to the QB, but a small DE that once a lineman gets his hands on him, he's done.

Pick 222- Georgia OT Chester Adams

I've got nothin' Since he's from Georgia, he probably runs a 4.3 40 and scored a 3 on the wonderlic. But that's just an extrapolation.

I've watched maybe 20 minutes of it over two days. I'm curious about what certain teams are doing, but t takes about five minutes to check online for that. Today, the NBA playoffs are much more compelling for me than the draft. Besides, I can't bet on the draft.

I know when the Bears are coming up. I just follow it when they are close. They've got their last 3 coming up. 243, 247, 248.

The Bears can't find a QB to draft, but the Packers draft two. Some GMs are oriented to offense and are willing to draft multiple guys at the same skill positions to try to find one keeper. The Bears apparently have that mentality with defensive linemen. They seemingly always draft a few DL hoping one can stick. It would be nice if they had that same philosophy toward the skill positions.

Strengths:
Excellent size and bulk...A good athlete with nice quickness....Stout at the point of attack...Strong and powerful...Moves his feet well and can slide laterally..Is mobile enough to pull and get to the second level...Offers a little versatility....Has upside.

Weaknesses:
Does not use good leverage...Poor balance...Not a great technician...Needs to be more aggressive...Lacks a violent initial punch...Marginal awareness...Has a tough time holding his blocks..Work ethic has been questioned...May lack a killer instinct.

Notes:
Goes by the nickname "The Big Cheese"....

Sounds like every other 7th round pick...or they wouldn't be a 7th round pick.
He'll probably make the practice squad for a year.

I would have taken Johnson in the 5th or maybe O'Connell in the 3rd. I was a little suprised he passed on Sweed in the 2nd but I see why they made that decision. Benson sucks and Angelo said he wanted to fix the running game, I'm not sure he did that but I like the pick for now.

Albert or Williams in the first were 2 good prospects.
I wish Clady was there, fuking Broncos... Angelo should have drafted a guard too.

The TE pick was stupid.

People I'm glad are not on the Bears roster:
Mendenhall
Otah
Brohm
Henne
Booty
all the other shitty QBs in this draft

I'm with you on all points Spaulding.

I would have liked Sweed/Smith or Forte over Forte/Bennet. Looking at who was picked after Forte, I think he probably would have only gone to the Lions with the first pick of the 3rd, but that would have given the Bears Kevin Smith. I could have lived with that if we had taken Sweed.
