When I saw the movement, I couldn't believe that a 91 mph pitch could move down that much......

Clearly you are not.

The answer is not many to both questions.

But I don't think many considered his build and pitching mechanics to be considered 'durable.'
Chris Sale was drafted in 2010 and was made starter in 2012. Nice try at cherry picking one post four years after he was one of the best SP's in the league.

If you are going to make accusations, wouldn't it be you that would need to provide where you got your notion from? Please point out all of these Cubs fans and all of these posts that guarantee Sale will have Tommy John.

I know I was critical of his pitching mechanics and his slight frame. Did not specifically predict any elbow issues. Just that he would be a candidate for some issues.

Fastball and Slider only. Eventually Michael CoPitch will find himself in the bullpen.

Relax. He's going to be a great closer if he can stay healthy.

I was saying "Kopech" last night in the same way the ice skaters said "toe pick" in the Cutting Edge.

Good comp. I'd say as a starter he will be lucky to have the same career as Mark Prior.

Cubs stay in first place despite historically ice cold bats, and all their fans can do is talk about the latest White Sox phenom. SMFH.

I think Denis loses his man-card for his detailed knowledge of the film "The Cutting Edge". Can I get a ruling here?

It was an exciting debut. I was more interested in the Sox game while Kopelbon was pitching.

And im also discussing the Cubs limp wood over in the other thread.

You do realize baseball fans are so much more knowledgeable because we follow the entire league and not just what our broadcast team tells us?

Besides, that was way more of a Baker and Gonzalez fuckup than it was Prior.

There are a lot of batters going up there unafraid to hit against him. I'm glad he is not walking anyone because in both games he has given up plenty of hits.

I think the positive to take away from the hits, was that he got into a bases loaded jam and got out of it.

It was sheer luck. He was getting tattooed and a center cut fastball was hard hit directly at Anderson.

He looked great until that inning. In that inning, the fastball was straight and the slider was hanging. Maybe he was out of gas.

I'm just happy he got enough run support.

I think what one should look at this year is he is around the strike zone and not walking a ton. He is not afraid to challenge. More aspects of "pitching" he will better over time.
