The Who were great. Pound for pound they were one the most talented band to come out of that scene. I always found John Entwistle's bass playing to be particularly imaginative.

Ringo was a magician on drums for the Beatles catalog. I quite like his drumming. How about "Paperback Writer"?

We already covered this in the Best Drummers thread. Anyone who knows anything about drumming knows Ringo was great.

Ringo was great in that he knew his role and fulfilled it just about to perfection.

Ringo was not in any way, shape, or form "great" the way that Ginger Baker, John Bonham, Keith Moon, etc were great.

Zak Starkey is a million times better hitting the skins than his Dad ever could even dream to be.

Paul is properly rated as a bass player.

Some killer bass lines and his musical sensibilities are sublime.

Agreed on all counts. Saw the Kinks at NIU in the early 80’s. Great show...keep hoping for a long rumored reunion...seems unlikely though.

The Who are a valid answer, not sure I agree, but it's a worthy candidate. As is Zeppelin, The Stones, and the Beatles. Dependng on the criteria, the Grateful Dead also worthy.
