Dallas putting it out there for the Bears on how to shut/slow down the Saints offense. If the Bears take care of business in NY, then beat the Rams, they might put themselves in the driver's seat for a bye in the playoffs.

Not gonna beat the Rams with Chase Daniel at QB

Sorry, can't hear you from all the way back there in 3rd place.

The Bears will be hosting a playoff game this season. Its just a matter of when.

When you root for a team that is packing for the offseason in Week 13 it makes you bitter.

The Saints have a tough schedule the rest of the way. Still have at the Steelers and at Carolina. Great opportunity for bye opened up.

No doubt they will host one playoff game. They aren't getting a bye.

Odds just increased that they will. Thanks.

If the beat the Giants and the Rams, they have just as good as chance as any other NFC team at getting one of the bye's.

Thanks.

Right. That's true. But they aren't gonna beat the Rams. That's the flaw in your reasoning.

And just 24 hours ago, MANY thought the Cowboys would not beat the Saints.

No flaws here.

The Bears are the best positioned team to beat the Rams, Chiefs or Saints vs. the rest of the also rans because of their stellar and oft scoring defense. There is no way the Bears will or should be favored in any of those match-ups, but those teams will have a serious challenge with the Bears D.

Unless Fangio chooses to use some dumb ass lay off soft scheme the Bears have a chance with all teams. Watching them sit back and being picked apart 8 yards at a time is what kills me.

The whole landscape of the NFL playoffs has shifted in the Bears (and other teams) favor over the last 24 hours.

That is how I see it also. Those teams will also have problems with the Bear's offense, especially out in the cold.

One game at a time. THey need to beat the Giants and it will not be an easy game. The Rams game will take care of itself. To beat them it will take a healthy (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky. If they beat the Giants, the game with the Rams will not be a "must" game. Hopefully the Bears will not be looking ahead in any way to the Rams.

I am cool if it ends up being the third seed against either the Vikings or panthers, both of whom look horrible. Let the cowboys and Seahawks battle it out for hottest team in the league

I think the second spot is still a possibility with the Saints having to play @Panthers, Steelers and Panthers the next three weeks

The important thing to watch is that they get no worse than #3. The drop off in the quality of the opponent between the Seahawks at #5 and anyone else who gets #6 is substantial. Let the Cowboys and Seahawks beat each other up as the two hottest teams in the league.

Do WE have tie breakers over either the Cowboys or Saints?

I think the Cowboys own the tiebreaker but I'm not sure why. Not sure about the Saints.

The first tie breaker for Bear and the Saints would be conference record. If the Saints lose to the Panthers twice it goes to the Bears (if the Bears win out). The next is strength of schedule. I am not sure what that ends up being. It likely depends on how well the rest of the NFC North does the last few weeks of the the season.

With the schedule the Saints have left, catching them is a pipe dream. They aren't losing two of those games. Carolina is in free fall and their defense is the biggest reason why. That defense isn't going to stop Brees and with Cam hurt it should be an easy sweep. And Pitt is somehow playing even worse than Carolina since Week 11.

Just quoting ESPN
Quote:
Sunday's victory over the Rams leaves the Bears potentially one week away from clinching the NFC North. They can do it in Week 15 with a win against the Packers. A first-round bye isn't out of the question but would require two losses by the Rams over the final three weeks.

CBSSports
Quote:
3. Chicago Bears: (10.5) NFC North Champs
Although the Bears beat the Rams on Sunday, the computer isn't really giving Chicago any chance of earning a first-round bye. The computer is projecting that the Bears will finish at least two games behind the Rams, which means everyone in Chicago can start mentally preparing themselves for the Bears to host their first home playoff game since 2010. According to SportsLine's current projections, the Bears would play the Vikings in the wild-card round, which could make things interesting, because they'll also be playing the Vikings in their regular season finale. Bears remaining schedule: Green Bay, at San Francisco, at Minnesota.

247Sports
Quote:
What it would take for the Bears to get a first-round bye:

To be blunt, it’s a complete long shot.

Even so, it would take either one of the Rams (vs Eagles, At Cardinals, Vs 49ers) or the Saints (At Panthers, Vs Steelers, Vs Panthers) to lose two of their last three and of course, the Bears would need to win out.

Is it possible? Yes. It is likely? Not at all.

The good news? If the Bears somehow finishing with the same record as either of the top two teams, they would win the tie-breaker due to either head-to-head or a superior conference record.

Catching the Saints is possible. They can easily lose to the Steelers, and it's tough to beat the same team twice in a short span. I could see the Saints losing at Carolina and at the Steelers, but I would say it's more likely that the Saints win out.

The NFL is crazy though. Unlikely shit happens all the time. The Bears just need to take care of business the next couple of weeks.

Catching the Saints is 99.9% likely not to happen. As FF points out, they get to play the terrible Panthers twice.

Sure, anything can happen, but asking for two Saints losses when they are facing two of the worst teams in the NFL over the last several weeks to close out their schedule goes in the "So you're sayin' there's a chance!" category.

I think the Vikings get in with a losing record. Packers will have the same record but lose the tie breaker.
