I think Mitch is certainly that.

Generous assumption. Trubinsky's poor play has wasted a lot of potential created by Nagy's superior scheming and play calling.

Nagy says it takes every QB a year to learn the system.

You guys arent factoring in his amazing ability to run for 1st downs.

I think we all agree the only stat needed for judging QB's is QBR

Mitch is 6th

Certainly seems a little generous.

He’s right around the middle of the pack spot.

He might be right at 15, which would make him slightly above average. But the problem with that ranking is that none of the QBs ranked below him seem to have solid futures ahead of them as starting QBs. Mitch occupies the borderline between starter and backup right now, and it's not immediately clear which way the pendulum will ultimately swing. If he doesn't learn to read defenses more effectively reasonably soon, though, he will either be benched or suffer serious injury from running too frequently.

I don't disagree with you about reading defenses but this is literally where many of us hoped he would be at by the end of the year. He could still take a step or 2 before the season ends.

Trubinsky's issues appear to be physical. He's not accurate.

He has 21 touchdown passes (not 24) and 12 interceptions for the year. Take away the outliers and he's at 14 and 9. That's mediocre. His greatest strengths are his first read accuracy and his elite running (not scrambling) ability. The problem is that running quarterbacks don't often last very long in the NFL without getting injured. He either needs to improve his reading ability or he will wind up either as a career backup or hurt.

They're physical and mental. He struggles with accuracy as well as vision/anticipation.

I think that he's still thinking too much and that's part of his problem. I'm not saying that his mechanics can't get better.

Rushing TD's don't count when analyzing a QB's TD/INT ratio. We aren't including his lost fumbles either.

Do we also exclude his rushing yards when looking at his production for the year?

I agree and hope he improves rapidly. I just don't think it's clear right now where he's headed. I also don't think we've seen his best running games yet. He could go off in the playoffs like Kaepernick did a few years back and take the Bears all the way to the Superbowl mostly with his legs. Even if that fantastic scenario becomes a reality, though, I could still see him getting benched the following season for failing to read defenses properly.

No, I'm just telling you what is included in the TD/INT ratio. It's a distinct statistical category, and it doesn't include rushing TDs. And just to beat you to the next response, it does not include rushing TDs for *any* QB, not just poor, picked-on Mitch.

I wasn't using that as part of his TD/INT ratio. I've been using the same number for weeks to point out his overall production because he is a mobile quarterback.

I saw that Collinsworth showed how productive (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is on his first read (I believe it may have just been for that game) and how that production dropped off after then. Does anyone have those stats for all quarterbacks. I would love to see how he compares to his peers.

I thought the stat they showed was for first drives, implying Nagy could coach those up more.

We talked about Mahomes last night. Greatest combination of tools that I've ever seen a QB have. I believe that he'll be better than Rodgers and if he can win a few championships we may be talking about him the way we talk about Brady.

He has a long way to go. I think you have forgotten how good 2011-2014 Rodgers was.

Nobody is ever going to surpass Brady as GOAT.

Rogers never had that child like joy in him like Favre. Mahomes has that and literally every tool Rodgers has. Mahomes tools are more developed than what Rodgers had in Year 1. The kid is going to continue getting better.

Mahomes is phenomenal but he doesn't have every tool Rodgers has, or at least hasn't shown it yet. You just confirmed my theory that you have forgotten just how good Peak Rodgers was. The league still hasn't seen anything like it ever.

Maybe I did. I just don't recall saying "WOW" as much as I do for him. I tried my best to be a Mahomes hater too. He broke me. He may end up having the best statistical season ever in Year 1.

He should be benched in the 2nd quarter. Every other quarter is fine.

Chase's passer rating is 25 points higher than Mitch's in the 2nd, it could work. It's also 20 points higher in the 4th.

Tried to be a hater?!? It should flow naturally, lest you find yourself consigned to a lifetime stuck rooting for bums like Rex Grossman.

You guys arent factoring in his amazing ability to run for 1st downs.

I think we all agree the only stat needed for judging QB's is QBR

Mitch is 6th

This is why these "stats" are all crap. Without (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky, the Bears are not winning their division. PERIOD. All of these so-called quarterback experts do not count scrambling ability and planned running plays into the worth of the quarterback of their team.
