We definitely had a JJ vs Urlacher thread. I took Urlacher too, which may have been the wrong call.

Indeed. Khalil Mack has been great for some time. Meatball Bear fans just figuring this out now.

Rpb couldn't even admit JJ watt was better than Urlacher. Bear fans have little knowledge outside of their own team.

You waaaaayyyyyy overestimate your own knowledge. You're wrong A LOT.

How did you get so conceded? Remember when you thought Jon Gray and Sonny Gray were the same person? Or that Urlacher never won a DPOY?

I dont remember the Watt vs Urlacher discussion. Quote it if you can.

I am wrong a fair amount, but I'm no homer. I just give my honest opinion.

I hope the number 34 pick in the 2020 draft turns out to be a stud to basically just make this the most one-sided trade in league history.

No kidding. Getting Mack was HUGE. It'd be one thing if the guy was a great player but somekind of an asshole but he is different. He made a very good defense, a GREAT ONE. And with just a small price really in terms of draft picks.

So more than likely the Bears will be getting Mack for a late, late 1st round pick in 2019 and a swap of a late first rounder for early 2nd rounder in 2020 right? Good lord, Pace raped Gruden.

Rube vindicated today for his criticism of Khalil Mack trade.

No player is worth that many picks, except a HOF quarterback.

This is what happens when you all think like sheep.

Zero sacks for Mack against the Eagles.

Sacks don't tell the whole story, Mack played very good, so did the D. That loss is is on Nagy and the offense. I put some blame on Fangio too, you have to dial up a blitz now n then to keep the offense on their heels.

Maybe if the Bears had kept Matt Barkley, who you called their QB of the future, they would have beaten the Eagles, right?

Of course, its totally and completely fair to judge the trade on one single game.

If you need any further clarification on this, refer to my previous post. :D

Due to his dominance and relentlessly consistent production off the edge, he would have required a large contract, which isn't favored by the the Sloan number-crunchers. In addition, the Raiders received a package that included two first-rounders, which will help them either stock up on talent in the upcoming drafts or use them in subsequent trades to sign important players. Finally, the Raiders' cap space gives them flexibility, which is something they wouldn't have had if they had kept Mack.

Why so much anger toward the Raiders rebuild? Do you not see the value of trading your best player for young potential stars to develop a core? Would you rather the Raiders over pay in FA to sign a 26yr old superstar to 10/300MIL contract or put all their hopes and dreams into a bunch of draft picks who keep underperforming or getting hurt?

The issue isn't really that the Raiders were smart to rebuild. It's that the Bears fleeced them in the trade.

Bears gave up:
2019 first round pick
2020 first round pick
2020 third round pick
2020 sixth round pick

Raiders gave up:
Mack
2020 second round pick
2020 fifth round pick

So, in effect, the Bears got Mack for a 2019 first round pick, and then moving around with minimal loss of value in 2020.

If the draft order went the exact same for 2020, this is how the trade would have worked.
Bears give up in 2020: 24th pick, 88th pick, 198th pick.
Bears get in 2020: 35th pick, 141st pick.

That's not a huge cost in 2020.

You forgot to include the record-setting contract....that’s an enormous opportunity cost

And you can’t make assumptions about 2020. It’s the NFL.

The way teams value draft picks, I think all 32 including the Bears would disagree with minimal loss of value in 2020. Team's aren't looking to just give away 3rd round picks.

We don't really know that until we see how he performs throughout the contract though. Rodgers contract could be worse than the Mack contract given Rodgers gets "injured" all the time now.

The Bears didn't just give away their 3rd. I think all 32 NFL teams would rather have two second round picks in 2020 vs one second round and one third round pick in 2020.

Teams trade third round picks all the time.

For instance, Arizona traded a third round pick, and a fifth round pick to move up 5 total spots in the NFL draft last year.

Of course you would rather have the picks but the Bears moving up from a likely low third round pick to a high second round pick makes a big difference in the value.

Huh? That response makes no sense.

Let's go back to what Rick wrote.

If the draft order went the exact same for 2020, this is how the trade would have worked.

Bears give up in 2020: 24th pick, 88th pick, 198th pick.
Bears get in 2020: 35th pick, 141st pick.

32 out of 32 GM's would tell you what the Bears gave up in the above scenario is significantly more valuable than what they received. The comparison of the combo of picks isn't close. Not what else you were rambling on about.

And Oakland traded a 3rd and a 5th for one of the best WR's of all time in his prime coming off a 15 TD catch season.

I'd also, like Kirkwood, caution you about projecting low and high round picks in 2020. Lotta regression due for the beloved this season.

You know its been a rough stretch for Packers fans when they are actively choosing to side with the football savant that is Dignified Rube.
