I think part of that was Lovie pulling a power play and forcing Rivera out because he was getting too much credit for the defense and because Rivera had the audacity to interview for a head coaching job. At least Nagy and Fangio have no overlap, which should be appealing to DC candidates.

The flag should be put at half staff for all mourning Bears fans.

Another offshoot of them losing is there’s a real possibility that Fangio doesn’t get the job if the Bears are still playing .

Nagy and Bowles are friends. Gabriel said he talked to a source, which he inadvertently gave away was Bowles agent, who said they had been talking the last few wees.

Bowles is ‘friends’ with Arians too tho no? Risky to not have multiple options. Either way, it’s at least an example of them thinking ahead and possibly acting. Which is a good sign if true.

Rivera allegedly wasn’t afraid to challenge Lovie on some of his calls too which seemed to put distance between them.

Huh? Nagy admitted he had very little involvement with the defense and let Fangio own that shop.

The player most damaged by this will be Floyd in my opinion.

I don't think he is nearly as valuable lined up and just rushing the passer. I think most defensive schemes would have him doing that rather than the multi faceted role he played with Fangio

He may want to get credit for building his own defense. The Bears should have already been in talks with Donatell to take over the defense while Fangio was interviewing elsewhere.

Either way it will piss me off to find out Pace/Nagy were caught flat footed by this and thus settle for some scrap heap hire.

Nagy appeared to be aware that Fangio was gone during his press conference.

Being aware of it and doing something about (being proactive) are two different things.

Nagy doesn't strike me as a guy who wouldn't be.

Read more. I had a great year of Bears thoughts. From preseason predictions to (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky and even only being worried about the kicker and August. I deserve more respect.

He got an opportunity because of Nagy's team had success. Therefore he's a Nagy branch.

Whether you disagree with that or not my Bears thoughts were great as well as my predictions about the Packers and Rodgers.

Nas knows Fangio isn't really a Nagy tree guy, but I believe was just pointing out it goes on his tree record (i.e., years from now when/if someone looks up "Nagy coaching tree" on Wikipedia).

I don't think this will ever go down as someone from the Nagy tree. There is simply no connection there.

Bears @ Broncos going to be a Monday Night game next year. Maybe even the Thanksgiving night game.

That is a bizarre move by Denver to hire a guy who has been in the NFL more than 10 years but crazier things have worked.

I think they give it to Nagy. Who else gets the credit? I mean Reid still gets credit for Harbaugh, Bowles and Rivera. I doubt that he taught them 1 thing about defense.

It's a little like saying Buddy Ryan belongs on the Ditka coaching tree.

No defensive coach can truly come from the tree of an offensive coach but when they're making these trees that never matters

I think you may have recently had a collision with a tree. Get a CAT scan ASAP.
