Tatum took his team to Game 7 of the conference finals when he was put in position to lead. A team that really wasn't better than the Bulls. This isn't even a debate now. Maybe we can revisit this next season.
Mitchell also wasn't all that "special" "awesome" or "great" against Houston either. He actually looked rather shitty.
When he had to run the point he looked subpar.
Gobert also got clowned by Capela in that series and you were just arguing that he was very good this season.
Houston was clearly the second best team in the league this year. I don't see any shame in a lower seed losing 4-1 to them when the lower seed was missing it's third best player and was relying on a rookie as it's primary playmaker. Houston also centered it's entire defensive gameplan around stopping Mitchell because of how bad all the other Jazz players are offensively.
You can't make him a rookie when it doesn't serve your purpose and an MVP candidate when it does.
He demonstrated that he had difficulty in creating offense for himself and others. As i stated before it is hard to be great when you aren't really great at anything.
He is a good player. Don't think he will be a great player and Tatum was clearly the better playoff performer.
He is a rookie. That’s a fact. I also never said he was an MVP candidate this year. I said he’s a potential future MVP and I stand by that.
He’s great at driving and finishing. That’s a useful skill to have he’s elite at it. He’s a good distributor even though the 2 is his natural position. He’s a good defender. He hustles on every play. There’s no reason to think he won’t continue to improve significantly.
I also think the clearly better playoff performer thing is bullshit. Tatum didn’t close to having a series as good as Mitchell’s against OKC and Tatum’s postseason would have gone a lot differently if he faced the second best team in the league in the second round.
You are saying he is a two now but when i stated that he couldn't handle the point you argued with me that he could.
Donovan Mitchell destroyed Journeyman Corey Brewer.
Tatum was matched up with Giannis, Simmons (whom he outplayed by the way) and James and acquitted himself well.
He was more consistent from the field and he is a more complete player than Mitchell right now.
