I would give them a 7th next year as the Bears are going to be chock full of late round picks in that draft and I don't value the one year option to pay a kicker franchise money very valuable.

I think the question is whether Gould would be willing to renegotiate. Say a deal that is $3M this year, $4M next year, and a team option for $5M for 2021.

If that is the case, I'd probably give up a high 6th for him, or trade a late 5th for a Gould and the right to for the Bears to swap 6ths next year.

If Gould is coming here, he is doing so because its better for him and his family situation. If he wants the money, he would stay in SF. That said, he needs to take a hearty discount to return to the Bears.

I was listening to Gabriel a couple of weeks ago. He gave a very strong indication that Gould will call the 49ers bluff and walk away from football rather than play on the west coast. I believe he talked with Robbie who told him it was a quality of life consideration with his family living in chicago year round and that he was very insistent.

It certainly seems like the Bears are not panicked by the kicking situation so maybe they know what is up. They are practically leaving the position open for him.
