Keith Van Horn does not deserve to be on this list. He sucked. And if Thayer (I doubt he will at this point) appears on this list, that's wrong as well. He was worse then Van Horn.

Hilgenberg, Covert and Bortz were the good linemen on the 85 Bears. They covered for Horn and Thayer.

I support you in most of your fits of whimsy but you are just simply wrong here. Covert was an all time great. Hilgenberg and Bortz were the best at their positions for half a decade. Their greatness overshadowed Van Horne and Thayer, but each of those guys was very good and occasionally great.

The OL was so deep that really good players like Kurt Beckert and Stan Humphries were backups

I concur that Hampton should not be in the top five. O'B should go before Hampton, because he had the winning interception in the '63 Championship Game at Wrigley.

Definitely top 10. He is right on the border of top 5. He invented the modern position of TE. HOF, championship as player and coach.

Bears have 28 HOF. A couple are not principally Bears so cut them out. Start with all BEAR HOF as your top 25 in the order you prefer. Then add everyone else from 85 D and OL. That has to already get you somewhere in the 40s without having addressed all the other greats from championship teams of the pre super bowl era. Then leave a space for Mack.
