You're putting words in my mouth and projecting at the same time. Good job.

Sort of like when you implied I wanted her to be shunned?

Should she be a celebrity?

Strange times.

Fucking rape victims getting book deals when they should be shunned. What is happening to this country?!?

She got blacked out at a party. Now she's a hero with an important story to tell.

Something bothered me about this woman's statement, but that take is a tad off.

It's a messy, terrible case that has ruined one career, and launched another apparently.

What do you wish happened to her instead? I mean you clearly have an opinion on that subject.

Turner's? The judge's? I wasn't sure which one you meant.

Raping someone usually does have an adverse effect on one's career

I don't think we should celebrate victimhood or turn her into a celebrity. She's not a hero for getting blackout drunk at a college party, but that's how she is being portrayed.

Meanwhile the kid and his family are dismissed as trash. He was really drunk and 19. Pretty tough to have your worst moment define you at that age.

Apart from People On Twitter, I haven't seen or heard anyone calling this lady a hero besides you.

She was given a platform because of the leniency given to her attacker after being convicted of a serious crime. Had he been sentenced to 5-10 years this likely isn't a story.

Doesn't count. People on Twitter. New York Times article, and the publisher fawning over her:

Quote:
“I jumped out of my chair to acquire it,” said Ms. Schulz, who declined to say how much Ms. Miller had been paid, “because it was just obvious to me from the beginning what she had to say and how different it was and how extraordinarily well she was going to say it. She had the brain and the voice of a writer from the very beginning, even in that situation.”

The kid was kicked out of school, kicked out of USA swimming, and sent to jail for 6 months. He's a registered sex offender. He was 19. She was 24, and they were both very drunk. Sending him to jail for 10 years on a first time offense seems pretty draconian.

A first time offense of rape? Why should that matter? Shouldn't all crimes be judged according to the crime itself and not past actions?

I've been drunk hundreds of times, somehow I've managed to avoid sexually assaulting someone. MANY people are capable of not sexually assaulting someone even when they're drunk.

You believe he got railroaded because you think a cabal of feminists want to punish rich white dudes for breathing. That's all this is.

Didn't you object to putting words in your mouth? Yet, it's fine to speculate on my motivations? I have reasonable doubt that one side is totally guilty, and one side is an innocent hero. But that's how it's being portrayed.

If you ever got drunk with a girl, and hooked up with her then you are guilty of sexual assault by today's standards.

Are you going to find something on the Bernie Sanders website to have a conversation with today?

I get the most satisfaction from answers like this which are meant to completely avoid answering the post.

I don't have to speculate when it's abundantly clear why you're upset.

And even if she was being portrayed as a hero, which she isn't, I'm not quite sure what the problem with that would be? That other "more deserving" heroes get written up in the New York Times and be given book deals?

How badly was WfR hurt by his mother?

He must be the product of years of multilayered physical and emotional abuse from a close female. I'd have to think even some incels could be shocked by some of his posts in this thread.

I clearly stated my disagreement with the case, but you've instead claimed to have insight into my inner thoughts and state of mind. The problem is that there is an effort to blame every alcohol fueled encounter on males, the standard of evidence is being reduced to believe all women, and there is now precedent that this is a path to financial rewards and a level of fame.

I disagree with that. It's a discussion on a message board. If you can't do anything more than say you are angry then the discussion is over.
