Cordarrelle Patterson figures to solve #Bears kickoff return issues. His team has been top-10 in kickoff returns 4 times in his 6 seasons (top 2 3 times) while Chicago has had a top-10 KR unit once in the last 6 seasons.

Will also be another nice gimmick for Nagy to use on offense a few times a game. I like it.

I like that it gives them another weapon and I didn't like Cohen returning all of the kicks. I believe they will find a way to use him all over the field, kind of a poor man's Hester with the versatility. Also like that it is a short contract and hopefully they can draft or develop someone to do it who may be a bit quicker.

Horrible route-runner, solid special teamer.

Hard not to root for guys without a position that succeed in the NFL.

In today's NFL, I question signing any kick returner for that kind of money. So few kicks get returned anymore in the NFL it just isn't worth it.

The Bears were at or near last in the NFC in starting field position last year, so he should help with that. Uh Huh.

He is not just going to be a kick returner. He isn't going to catch 100 passes either, but he will definitely be used at times in the pass and run game. If Nagy can come up with plays for Bradley Sowell and Aikeem Hicks to score touchdowns, he'll be able to use Patterson in a good way too. Oh Yeah.

That was my immediate thought -- this opens up a whole array of other plays he can pull together.

I dig this signing. Dude is a weapon that can be used at multiple levels of the game.

We're not asking him to play receiver, you did that. I think 10 touches a game works.

USE HIM in the sense of getting him involved. Let him run a fly pattern and have Mitch overthrow it. Bubble screen. Pitch out. I'm not saying run him between the tackles 30 times a game, but there are ways to get him the ball 8-10 times a game.

Ten touches is way too much. Pound with Montgomery then try and find an opportune moment when they think they can seal an edge and break Patterson lose. Basically exactly what they did in this game (and to great effect).

Three, maybe five, touches on offense is about right. Cohen is the guy who should be getting ten or so a game.

Cohen has regressed and still makes rookie mistakes. That 9 yard loss was inexcusable.

Cohen gets better and better the more you give him the ball.

I do not know why the Bears entered this season without any sort of cohesive plan or vision for how the offense would look. Or maybe they did and Mitch has been so abysmal they've had to improvise. They way they've juggled Monty, Davis, Cohen and Patterson has felt so clunky and awkward.

Davis shouldn't be on the roster, let alone on the field.

Nagy hasn't countered the league's adjustment to him. It's been 7 or 8 games.

He doesn't even need to make some grand, elaborate scheme. The Bears have a bounty of guys who are terrors with the ball in their hands. Even Robinson is now moving and exploding out of cuts like he's three years younger. Just get the ball in these guys hands and have them make the first man miss. No team in football is more stacked with this quantity of guys capable of shaking defenders, just get them the fucking ball.

Not that simple when Robinson is literally the only guy capable of beating 1 on 1 coverage and they double him.

Gabriel and Miller are open, they're just open too far downfield for Mitch to get them the ball.

As for Cohen, Monty and Patterson they can all have the ball just handed off to them or be targeted in the screen game.

To Nagy's credit this is all very difficult to do when the defense knows the QB cant throw the ball more than twenty yards. They're very content to let Gabriel and Miller burn them when they know Mitch cant do anything with it.

I'd be willing to bet the Patriots bring Patterson back at some point.

Show me a video of them open. I trust Manneley's observations of the all 22.

Gabriel is open all the time downfield. Miller you'd have to be going back to last year to see what he's capable of, I dont know what is going with him now. I hope it sorts itself out.

They are trying to utilize Gabriel speed more which means Miller is getting the shaft. Bears have fallen in love with gadget plays. Always wanting to utilize speed with Gabriel, Cohen, and Patterson. None of those guys are your stud players. Bears need to get their supposed best players the ball.

Nagy should just study the Patriots film of him to see how and when they used him. Then, use him the same way. Not rocket surgery

Mitch can throw deep just fine.. if you don’t need it to be accurate lol. But he absolutely does have the arm to do it.
