We have heard that the first half was the worst offensive showing (in terms of total yards) in at least 40 years for the Bears.

The worst game by a Bear offense in history was in 1981, 24 total yards for the entire game.

And in the "don't ask me why I know this category" The play by play guy on CBS that afternoon...………………………….

Dick Stockton

I just wanted to add that personal foul(late hit) call on Eddie Jackson was horseshit. There was no way he could slow down and he didn't even hit him head on.

Based on today's rules it is a penalty.

Nah, watch the reply, he did try to alter his course to avoid a head on hit, he sort of glanced him with a body shot. It was a terrible call.

I'll give you that. Nagy is a total beta cuck.

From Brad Biggs' mailbox:

Question:
Could Matt Nagy have challenged the (Zach Ertz) touchdown play to see if it was offensive pass interference (against Kyle Fuller)? That would have been a smart challenge. I’m not sure why he didn’t throw the flag. Was that play reviewable? — Keith L., Wichita, Kan.

Biggs' reply:
Many readers were wondering the same thing and because it was a touchdown, the Bears were not able to challenge the play. It looked obvious that Eagles tight end Zach Ertz was guilty of offensive pass interference, but Nagy had no recourse in that situation.

What is he talking about? I know all scoring plays are reviewed (presumably to confirm a catch or breaking the plane, etc), but is he saying a team can't challenge something that happened on a scoring play?

If there is truly no recourse for the opposing coach, then Nagy should be telling all his WRs and TEs to mug the defenders in the endzone as the pass is in the air, and hope it doesn't get called.

Yes, and he's right.
"Only the Replay Official or the Senior Vice President of Officiating or his or her designee may initiate a review of a play:

that begins after the two-minute warning of each half;
throughout any overtime period;
when points are scored by either team;

But here's the thing. Throw that flag anyway, stomp up and down. Make that review ref take his time looking at it.

Leave it to the NFL to prohibit challenges during the most critical moments.

Yeah, but who knew the replay ref wouldn't look at the replay? Because if he did....

That's a reason why football to me is becoming more and more unwatchable. There were some other very questionable calls in that game also of defensive interference and off-side calls where it looked to me that the center was moving the ball as Wenze was barking out calls. Several of those calls kept Philly drives alive. Nagy and Pagano should have been into the referees shit a lot in that game.
