We have a philosophical difference then. That's fine. I think your blind spot is if you want to say it's reasonable to expect the D to get a critical stop then it's equally reasonable to expect the O to provide some a reasonable margin of error. The d has been so good these two years and the offense bad that we're implicitly expecting the d to both stop offenses and score on d as well. That's unreasonable.
It was unreasonable to expect the defense to get 50 takeaways. I just don't think it's unreasonable to expect a defense that we both believe is elite to get a key stop.
I will agree with you about the offense. They averaged nearly 30 points a game last year until the Rams exposed them. They've generally sucked every game since. You have to be able to score more than 17 points or just score points in the first half.
