Watched the Mavs at Pacers last night. Doncic out yet again with an ankle injury. Mavs still handled them easily. Perhaps you get Doncic and Porzingas really playing together they could make some noise.

Is it that same ankle as 6 weeks ago? That was a 90 degree roll and don't be surprised it's an all year problem.

maybe shakes can break this one down for us:

In a four-team deal, Atlanta has acquired Houston’s Clint Capela and Nene for Evan Turner, the lottery-protected first-round pick it owns from Brooklyn and a 2024 second-round pick. The full four-team trade is Houston receiving Robert Covington, Jordan Bell and a second-round pick; Minnesota receiving Turner, Malik Beasley, Juancho Hernangomez, Jarred Vanderbilt and the Brooklyn first-round pick; and Denver receiving Gerald Green, Keita Bates-Diop, Shabazz Napier, Noah Vonleh and Houston’s first-round pick. It should be noted that the Hawks will have to waive a player for this deal to be official because they have 16 players right now. The obvious candidate is Chandler Parsons, who is in California rehabbing from his injuries sustained in a car accident. Treveon Graham is a possibility, as well.

Love it for the Hawks! Hawks biggest problem this year has been a complete lack of an NBA center on the roster. They let Dedmon walk over the summer with the hopes that Alex Len could step in and fill the void, but that was a total failure. After about 20 games they decided that Len can only play coming off the bench. Next up was Damian Jones who it turns out is the dumbest player in the NBA. Doesn't know where to stand on the court, doesn't know how to play the game. Next up was Bruno Fernando, a second round project rookie who has no business being in the NBA this year, let alone starting several games.

Hawks need a big guy who can protect the rim and help out the young defensively challenged players on the team (Trae, Collins, Huerter), rim run for dunks in the open floor and off the PnR with Trae and lastly space the floor with outside shooting. Capella checks 2 of those 3 boxes with defense and rim running. He's young and he's signed for long term at under $20m per which is a very good deal.

Hawks have $60m in cap space, but the 2020 FA class looks pretty weak. They weren't going to get a better big than Capella. They would've ended up doing something stupid like giving Andre Drummond $30m per year.

The costs of the deal is next to nothing which makes it even better. Evan Turner is a malcontent and not good enough to play in the NBA at this point in his career. The frist round pick from Brooklyn will be middle of the first round in what is looking to be one of the weakest drafts ever. I think they also gave up a 2nd.

Capella is hurt and may not even play for a while which is fine with me. Next year they'll have a core of..

Capella
Collins
Hunter
Trae
Huerter
Reddish
2020 lottery pick

I heard somebody say Collins was going to get $20MM/year? That's going to take a BITE.

I don't have a problem with it. He's good, you gotta pay guys when they're good. It's a good problem to have.

And its not like he's getting max money.

Bad trade. Capella has regressed tremendously Defensively and never was all that good offensively. He also is a weak rebounder. Undersized Center on a team already lacking with rim protection as it is.

It helps them. How is he a weak rebounder?

Not really invested. I actually have little against the Wolves as the guys that have destroyed the franchise are gone.

I sort feel pity and sympathy for them and their fans. The abomination known as Thibs killed them.

Want to see them break the losing streak and there isn't a better team to do it against than Your Atlanta Hawks.

I'm checking my guys Fultz and Tatum out actually. Think i may be recording Denver's game though. Will try and watch later. Porter has been coming on strong over the past 10-15 games.

Think the last i checked its been like 15 and 8 over that stretch.

Hawks go from having a center rotation of Damian Jones, Alex Len and Bruno Fernando to Clint Capela, Dwayne Dedmon and Jones. Fantastic job by Hawks GM.

To celebrate, they pantsed the TWolves tonight as Ice Trae goes for 38/11. Just another night at the office.

Dwayne Jones might just be the best dunker in the league currently.

Capela is injured, not sure when he's coming back. I'm hoping they get him back soon and get a solid couple of months with everyone playing together. Then they get a top lottery pick (hopefully Anthony Edwards) and still have cap room to sign someone this summer (would love Motrezl Harrel) cause they still need to solidify the bench. If everything falls in place the only thing that's gonna separate this team from the playoffs is experience.

Capela
Collins
Hunter
Trae
Huerter

Dedmon
Reddish
high lottery pick
Free Agent forward
Free Agent back up PG

That could be good. If they got Edwards he would supplant Huerter at the 2G at some point in the season if not from the start.
